How many of you have been keeping up with and watching Mad Men? I started to watch it recently to see what the hype was about. It's upto season five now but it's getting rather long winded an doesn't seem to be going in any kind of direction.

Hmm.. I'll take a look. I also enjoyed Sopranos and looking forward to season three of Boardwalk Empire.

Unless mad men suddenly found a way to incorporate some dragons, elves and vampire thingys then I'm still not aiming to watch it.

Maybe I should, but lack of dragons man..........serious oversight on the part of the script writers.

I first heard of Mad Men when my wife pointed out an article about Christine Hendricks who plays Joan. The article was about the ongoing craze about size zero and how Christine Hendricks figure offered a more voluptuous alternative. Needless to say, she is good looking but a bit too Jessica Rabbit for me.

She's in the movie 'Drive' in a small role but she definitely eats up the screen when she's on camera.

I haven't seen her, but I didn't think there was anything too Jessica Rabbit for any man Grin  isn't Jessica Rabbit like IT when it comes to male fantasies?  Tongue

She's like Monroe on steroids. Way too much imho. For me it has to be Beyonce.

I love Mad Men. Caught up with it before season four started and have been watching regularly since season five started. I agree with you Omar, that it's been a bit slow, but then again, the show has never been about dramatic twists and grand revelations. It works as a portrait of the time it depicts, with some very interesting characters.

Christina Hendricks is magnificent. I was terrible disappointed when I found out her boobs were fake, though. They're just too much.

Also I LOVE Boardwalk Empire and season three can't come too soon. And I have started watching the first season of the Wire and so far it's great stuff.

Mad Men and now GoT are the two shows I pay to watch. I wasn't into it first because it's set up in a different way than a plot driven drama. It's incredibly slow going at first but once you get the hang of what it's doing its one of the best shows on TV. It's much more about painting portraits of the changing times and how it's affecting the characters than betrayal, back stabbing etc.

So once again I'm left with the classic Irish man's dilemma, do I eat the potato or do I let it ferment so I can drink it later?

The sure is pretty accurate of it's portrayal of sixties America. Unfortunately it had a rather negative influence on me. I started smoking way too much.  Huh?

Really? That's news to me. Don't quote me, but I'm pretty good at telling the difference between fake and real and they looked pretty real to me. I would need a pretty strong "daleel" to support the claim that they are fake. Not only a "daleel" but a thorough isnaad.  Afro

Boardwalk Empire was awesome. Can't wait for season three to begin. The trouble I had with the Wire was that I started watching it straight after the breathtaking epic that was Sopranos and it just didn't hit the spot for me.

Okay... I don't really have daleel for her getting a boob job, HOWEVER this picture was brought to my attention

It's her (first one from the right) on a Playboy edition, supposedly from way before she became as famous as she is now.I'm not really sure what would cause a woman to have the size of her breasts increase that dramatically, besides plastic surgery (sure, she gained weight in the meantime, but does that justify the boobage?), but I'd love to be told it's possible because I think she is gorgeous  grin12

Yep the clown reminds me of that character from the Stephen King novel "IT". She looks a bit too thin there I think. Nothing wrong with the boobage in the pic IMHO.

So I'm watching this Pan Am show and it seems to be a poor man's (and I mean really fucking poor) Mad Men.

Also, someone should tell Christina Ricci that the fact that actresses in the 60's tended to over-act doesn't mean that she should over-act when playing a 60's character. Jeez.
