    So Muhammad's tomb is supposedly located in Masjid an Nabwi, Medinah, and according to Islam, the earth is forbidden from consuming the bodies of prophets, following me so far? Great!

    So, why can't we simply dig up his tomb, if Islam were true, his body would be there, fully preserved and a sign for all of mankind, this would solve so many problems in this world, no? Thinking hard

    But noooooo, it has to be so difficult  finmad

    I remember when I went to visit his tomb I tried so hard to get a good look through the hole in the grill thing, but the pushy saudi guards were moving me along  Cry

    SAUDI's: Y U NO LET US DIG UP THE TOMB!? ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)

    We were all Muslims at one point, it wouldn't be hard to get a stamp from the saudi embassy saying we were muslims thus permitting us to enter Medina, I say we storm the place and find our answer once and for all, who's with me!!!

    Do you have a source for the thing about prophet's bodies being preserved? Is that in the Koran or Hadiths? Where?

    If it is only in the Hadiths then they would simply say those Hadiths are innacurate. If it is in the Koran itself then they could reinterpret the verse somehow and say it actually means something else. I.e. the body is preserved in heaven, not on Earth, etc. etc.

    You realize that if you were to do that you would be killed pretty quick out there.

    Yeah, absolutely if the Saudis opened the tomb up and said "look here's Mo's body perfectly preserved" I would obviously suspect foul play.

    While you are over there why not dig up the main sqaure in Medina and see if you can find the decapitated corpses of the 800 members of Banu Qurayza. According to Ibn Ishaq they were beheaded and buried in trenches in the main square there.

    I was referring to a Hadith, it could be in the Qur'an though I'd need to look that up, here's the Hadith in case you're wondering...

    The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Verily, Allah has forbidden the Earth to consume the bodies of the Prophets.” [Sunan Abî Dâwûd (1047), Sunan al-Nasâ’î (1374), and Sunan Ibn Mâjah (1636)]

    EDIT: That wouldn't prove if Islam is real or not though, it'd just prove that event took place

    I'm pretty sure I'm afraid of dead bodies, but disregarding that, it's a sovereign state and why would it matter if there are a bunch of dead people there?

    And what do you mean by the 'main square'? :S They can't build Masjid-un-Nabawi on corpses, but when I've been there the Masjid has basically been the main square...

    He wasn't scientifically correct. Even if he said so when he was wrong about pollination.

    We'd need to see the original Arabic to get an accurate translation but yeah it's clearly flawed and I agree with you about people would just disregard this Hadith (Qur'anists already do)

    But yeah the Hadiths are supposed to be Islam in action, there isn't really meant to be anything additional, it's more of a supplement to the Qur'an and an affirmation of its message so anything which contradicts the Qur'an can be easily discredited by Muslims  grin12

    I will give you a better option!

    Why don't they simply send that rock from "heaven", thats sitting there being kissed by millions of fools during Hajj, to a lab or something. I am sure if it indeed from heaven its atomic composition should be pretty unique......

    Hell, I'm the one who suggested that Mecca be bombarded by nuclear weapons (after an evacuation of course) and completely erased just to prove prophecy true of false...ya know, for science!

    They'd have to send it to a non-biased lab in the west, wouldn't trust the results if they do it in Saudi... it would be covered up in no time. Not to mention there would probably be no mention any where as to what the results of the test was or the person performing the test would probably lie or be bribed into lying.

    Like the whole covenant of the ark thing.  Cheesy Had this christian once (seventh day adventist) tell me that they'd found the ark of the covenant in Jerusalem and he gave me a book to read about it... he said to me to read it and I'll become christian for sure. It was so funny 'cause I read the book and started reading and researching online about the ark of the covenant 'cause I didn't really know what it was, and found out that numerous "arks of the covenant" had been found, and still to this day, it's all hush-hush. Few people have seen the supposed arks of the covenant, and those who have attest to it's veracity and claim all the other ark of covenants are forgeries. If they'd really found it, the whole world would know, however, considering the fact that anyone who touches the ark of the covenant dies by being struck down by god, then no wonder no one knows. Cheesy His book didn't make me covert to christianity much to the dude's disappointment, but I told him it was a really good fucking read.  grin12

    Who would be stupid enough to do that? The day that happens is the day a full on nuclear war begins which inevitably will result in the death of us all  no

    One of the things I loved about being Muslim was that there were no intermediaries, just me and god, no going to see a father to confess my sins, no offering gifts to a priest, nothing.

    I don't like how attached people are to the Kaabah though, it borders on idolatry, I remember going to visit Masjid al Haram, everyone was so determined to get up close and touch it and the meteorite they call the black stone, it's crazy man, if you're not careful you could seriously get hurt in the commotion, I remember I was shoved right up into Ibrahim's station face first  wacko

    Anyway, my point is destroying the Kabaah would mean nothing, it wouldn't disprove Islam, it's already been rebuilt at least twice, it's simply the Qiblah, the direction in which all Muslims turn their faces to in prayer, a sign of unity even  001_wub

    Yeah people in Makkah can be downright rude sometimes. :/ But they can also be very kind and considerate too.

    A) It's an experiment, so dont get so hung up on geopolitics like this is serious. In my scenario the Arabs agree to the experiment as a sign of their great faith.
     
    B) Im not talking about destroying the Kaaba, that's easy, I mean completely wiping Mecca off the face of the Earth. That would put a serious dent in Islamic theology (cant do pilgrimage, no where for the Mahdi to announce himself, ect).

    Why is that such a big talking point? That's hardly unique to islam nor is it hardly alien to islam in actuality.

Obviously every religion is riddled with clericalism to a greater or lesser degree, and in actual fact Islam is very marked by this. But to suggest that adherents of other religions don't connect personally or directly with their imagined god through prayer or meditation or whatever is false.

    I didn't say this is found exclusively in Islam, you inferred that, it's just something I admire about Islam

    I know for sure it's found in Judaism
