Banning

Hi, I just wanted to know the purpose of banning someone who has somewhat extreme and unreasonable views? I mean, if someone comes into this forum, and talks about how the victim of rape should be blamed for the act of rape, why should he/she be banned? I completely agree that it is an immature, nonsensical, and brutal view, but after all of it, it is still a VIEW/OPINION. Shouldn't there be more time spent in discussing opposite views and trying to explain our views to people like that, and vice versa? Doesn't banning their freedom of speech make things worse? I understand that if people continue to spam their views, it would make sense, but why ban just for a mere statement of opinion, even if it may be extreme? Isn't that what this forum is all about? Why should we stoop down to their level where muslims block our freedom of speech and block us from stating ANY arguments against Islam? Again, just to clarify, I don't agree with views like that, it's just a question out of curiousity.
