I also remember we used to do laser tag and paintball matches to 'ready' ourselves for jihad. I'm not joking. We used to wear keffiyehs and black clothing and sometimes even have those shahada flags. We loved doing it in the snow to mimic the chechen figthers hiding out in the mountains and doing ambushes against the russians. It was fun wargaming, we were just kids really.
Tbh, there's still a part of me that still finds the idea of the holy guerilla warrior with nothing but the clothes on his back, a quran in one hand and AK in the other kinda romantic. Its a sort of savage and simplistic ideal that transfixed kids like me at the time.

I used to like the Mujahideen, but many Muslims I know hated them. I was like "why do they hate the Mujahideen, these are the people who will be closest to Allah in jannah"
They look like terrorists to me. I hate saying that but its true. I would never say that if I was Muslim.
