  • Research Study on Apostasy
     OP - May 12, 2010, 03:54 AM

I am currently planning a research study on the processes involved in apostatizing from Islam. The key aim of the study will be to offer a detailed qualitative account of what it is like and what it means for apostates to disaffiliate from Islam in the context of contemporary British society.
As part of the study, I would like to interview a small number of atheist/agnostic ex-Muslims living in the UK.
If you wish to be interviewed for this project, please contact me.
The identity of all interviewees will be protected.

    Dr Simon Cottee
    School of Social Sciences
    Bangor University
    UK.

I am not in the UK. Took a look at your homepage.

2003. “Terror and Modernity: Islamic Fascism in Theory and Practice”, The British Criminology Conference, University of Wales, Bangor.

I'm sure quite a few CEMB folks (though not myself) would like that stuff.

OK, having just spoken to Simon on the phone I feel more reassured that he is not coming from a perspective of any particular agenda and happy to take part in it.

He was directed here by Maryam Namazie and would very much like to hear from other Ex-Muslims and hear about their experiences leaving Islam.

I would be happy to take part in this study. Like Hassan, I won't be able to travel to Bangor as I'm based in the North East. I would be willing to talk about my experience over the phone or via e-mail.

If anyone is hesitant or fishy about this, I don't think you should be.

Here is Dr Simon's page at Bangor University wesbite:

I would partake, but I don't live in the UK.

    Good luck.
