  • Your favorite beer
     OP - May 17, 2010, 10:37 PM

I have been drinking alcohol for more than three years now but not until recently that I started to *like* beer. I used to drink just to get drunk which means I had to focus on whisky, vodka, gin, and rum.
As of late I started to actually fancy beer. I drink it whenever I can. I still live with my parents so I can only drink it in restaurants or pubs and I have to make sure I don't get drunk so that they don't notice. Well except when they're out of town then I can go wild.

I've tasted almost all the beers in the UK market and I do get out of my way to try new stuff whenever I can.

So far, I like Red Stripe, Guinness, and Peroni.

What about you? what lagers do you recommend?

Kriek beer! It's a blonde beer, absolutely delicious. Tripel Karmeliet, another blonde beer, is also very nice. They're both Belgian Afro

I don't like any of the 'high street' lagers, Fosters, Carlsberg, yech.

Red Stripe as you mentioned is nice. Stella Artois ain't bad. Personally I prefer ales, bitters and milds. Boddingtons, that kind of thing. Like a nice cold bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale too. Give that a taste next time you see it - has to be very cold for the best enjoyment.

Whatever's free, and, in lieu of that, whatever's cheap. I normally drink Miller Lite, Miller High Life or Schlitz-- it's not good but it's cheap.

As far as lagers that I actually think are good-- Budweiser Budvar (I think that's how it's marketed in the UK, here it's called "Czechvar" due to a copyright dispute with Budweiser), Rolling Rock, Pilsner Urquell. Harp's decent. Rolling Rock is my favorite on a hot summer day.

Not lagers, but I;m a pretty big fan of Guinness and Murphy's Stout. Don't care much for Beamish.

    fuck you

I don't understand beer.  I've tasted it, and it tastes absolutely foul.  I would go as far as to say... urgh!

    However...

Apparently thats what most people think when they first taste it, but eventually they start to get used to the taste and they end up loving it.

I know it's not beer, beer sucks but I love this drink when it's ice cold on a nice warm night.

Lemonadey, Fruity with that little kick of alcohol.

It tastes best with some friends by your side sloshed.
Damn it ! I'm thirsty...I think I might go out and get some.

I'm more of a fan of hard liqour though. I prefer some plain vodka or some plum brandy.

Alcopop is like alcohol for beginners. It gets you overloaded on sugar before you're anywhere near drunk.

So I just had Mike's hard CRANBERRY Lemonade with some salad:

It's not bad, the regular Mike's hard lemonade is much better.

Well, the usual suspects, such as Corona, Guinness, Newcastle Brown Ale, Kilkenny and Pilsner Urquell were already mentioned. For lagers, I prefer Velkopopovicky Kozel, the light, not the dark. But the imported stuff just doesn't taste anywhere near as good as the stuff when they serve it in Czech Republic, foaming out of the tap. Beer heaven.

Aside from those, I enjoy a lot of stouts and ales. Fuller's London Porter (most of their products are splendid samples of their own styles, Koff Porter, Slottskällans Imperial Stout, Innis & Gunn Rum Cask Oak Aged Beer, Beamish, Murphy's... Well, my memory fails me now, but stuff like that.
