I know this is a long shot, but does anyone know of any good Islamic forums where real debate is welcomed, and you are not insulted for being an appostate? I want to debate Islam with Muslims but without all the aggro or risk of being banned!

I remember there was an exmuslim who got himself in plenty of long debates at ShiaChat without being banned or continuously insulted. I thought he was misguided and would burn in hell....

Just had a look at that.  Im impressed with the willingness to engage with non-muslims at a philsophical level instead of the usual  dogmatic spittle-flecked outpourings.
The interfaith section is interesting. I may pop in their from time to time and contribute my tuppence worth on certain subjects.

    thanks for that

@Nour: Good to hear things are going well for you.  I'm impressed by your self-reliance. Afro

    @Mixu Paatelainen,
I don't go on forums much, but when I left Islam I googled a bit for apostates etc, and found this:
    http://forum.mpacuk.org/showthread.php?t=23798
They debated this ex-Muslim atheist for 100 posts.  Not bad eh  Wink
    I haven't read them all.

Edit: Here is another place where an ex-Muslim atheist debated fanatical Muslims.

ShiaChat tolerated me fairly well (I posted about 500+ posts, mostly bashing their worship of Hussein/Ali/etc)... I guess the reason they tolerated me is that I also never spared a chance to ridicule Sunnis' heretical views of the Hadith books...

oh, and I had to pay lip service to their hatred of Muayah and Yazeed.. I cursed them both and I think that alone bought me a lot time on that forum before finaly banning my posts (without actually banning me).

Islame what did you put in the Religion field?  I put atheist and still havint recieved word back, perhaps they have gone over their kaffir quota for the year Smiley  I will be happy to remind you about it as I think you would make a great contribution to some of the threads on there and I for one would enjoy reading them. And I agree to your call out for others to join, sites like this are rare.  Infact reading over some stuff I did for one second entertain the notion that it may even be a set up by apostates, similar to the far right biblical christian website. On reflection though I think its for real.

Yeah sometimes I wonder if my time would be better spent on muslims sites, here we are mostly speaking to the already converted.

Ive tried but I get banned as soon as they realise I have an agenda and want to reveal their scriptures in a negative light.

I put in secular humanist as my "religion" (Grrr how I hate having to be forced to call that my religion  finmad), but no word back as yet.

Access to forums would be good, but in the absence of that, as I have said before, YouTube is grrrrrrrreat.  If you can somehow make your videos go viral, that would be a godsend grrrrreat.
I liked your Stephen Hawking making adhan video. dance  That one had over 22000 views. Afro  Once you get a Muslim to watch that, hopefully they will click on another one of your videos, which might get them thinking (that leaving Islam is possible).  The question is, how do you make viral videos?  k-rina managed it stunningly. The other videos wont go viral, they're an in depth look at Islam, split up into sections highlighting the dodgy verses & ideological conundrums muslims face;  only people who are seriously interested in studying it will watch it and that why I did them.

I felt there was a hole in youtube for this type of thing and videos addressed at potential ex-muslims.

But yes, the hawking video (and to a lesser extent "worst adhan in the world") have both gone viral and are great in drawing in the punters..

I agree, they seem to engage in a  constructive  non-aggresive way over there and it would be churlish to do anything other than respond in kind using solid arguements rather than ridicule. Their forum policy is an interesting read in itself with warnings against attacks on people even for their sexuality. It even evokes the Golden Rule. I think these are people with whom I would happly debate. Of course my not being an ex-muslim will give them plenty of scope for dismissing anythng I have to say but still it will be interesting. PS , still havnt be approved as member. If nothing comes back im going to re-register as catholic, that way they will let me on thinkng that the power of allahs mercy will have me chucking christ in no time Smiley

Be patient, I'd say. Re-registering won't help I think. Might make them even suspicious of you. Don't worry about what religion you have specified. One of their mods is actually a non-believer (agnostic, I guess.)

I reckon one of the golden rules of debating is never assume your opponent is ignorant - you get made to look like a nob that way. U have noticed that many of the Muslims who come here to try and save souls get caught out that way.
