    Depressing.
There are very few people in this world I wish serious harm on but that insidious little isreali propaganda minister who pops on telly after incidents like this and throughout the Gaza attack  to explain with weasel words how Isreal are the victims in all this I would gladly knock the fuck out off for 4 hours then take him to hospital ,get him patched up then knock the fuck out of him again for another four hours.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/world/middle_east/10195838.stm

More than 10 people have been killed after Israeli commandos stormed a convoy of ships carrying aid to the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army says.

Armed forces boarded the vessels overnight, clashing with some of the 600 protesters on board.

It happened about 40 miles (64 km) out to sea, in international waters.

According to the polls only 1.6 % of Americans are athiests. So what gives you the right to call the other 80% morons?'

    Quote:

"Israel says it allows about 15,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid into Gaza every week.

But the United Nations says this is less than a quarter of what is needed."

Gaza is one big prison, slowly being starved and squeezed to a slow and painful death. People become desperate and lose hope of anything and in the claustrophobic dirty death trap that Gaza is - they are literally handed lock-stock-and-barrel into the hands of extremists - there is no other option. Die quietly or die with a bomb belt.

I don't understand what the long term aim of the Israelis is?

Can it really be to just slowly kill the place off creating years and years of misery, extremism and death?

Perhaps they think it helps justify strong arm tactics.

I don't know - but I can't believe that there are not some sane Israelis in the government who are not saying this is all very counter-productive?

     finmad finmad finmad

Yet again, the Israelis are doing themselves no favors with this latest move.

The worsening situation in Gaza will only cause the residents trapped there to become even more militant.  Self defeating for the Israelis really.

Yeah, I'd like to see some more progressive Israelis in the government there.  Too many hawks running the show atm.

The ultimate aim for Israel is to get the whole of that area (that is holy to Jews) under their rule, this is as they view this to be the point where apocolypse happens and all get saved and go to heaven. Truth is they do it by Nazi, Facist means. This through what I call Religio-Chauvinist Nationalism. Which is imperialist in nature and thoroughly horrid. Also by using Nazi techniques, ghettos, they see what was done to them under Nazi rule, which gives them a victim complex and makes them say "we are the victims, not them", when in reality Israel is the Nazi State of the 21st century.

They must be absolutely stupid to not see that they are doing the very same thing which the German Nazis did to their parents, grandparents in WWII Europe.

HOW the Israelis could forget this is beyond me.

The situation is fucked from all sides.

They are doing the same thing as happened to them, I think they know they are doing the same, yet view it as them not doing the same due to their "victim complex", and a view that the world owes them something. I also somewhat perceive that they may study Nazi methods of ghettoisation, in order to find ways to get rid of any non-Jews in Israel, by doing this however they see their own oppression and their Victim complex meme is reinforced and passed on to children. I do not however think that all Israelis are bad people, I used to go Fencing and at my club there were two Israelis who were just about to go off on conscription into the Israeli army, as they were brought up in a Multicultural community (Large here in NL), they were friends with Muslims etc. and were absolutely dreading their 6 month service, they did not want to do it at all.

Heres another little bit of irony from the BBC frontpage , directly below the article on Isreals latest murderous escapade we find this

    International Criminal Court 'altered behaviour'

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has forced governments to alter their behaviour in the eight years of its existence, the UN chief has said.

Ban Ki-moon told a summit in Uganda discussing the Hague-based court that it had curtailed impunity and had broken new ground on victims' rights.

But he called on member countries to step up co-operation.

    Good topic.

According to BBC, it happened about 40 miles (64 km) out to sea, in international waters.

So, it clearly shows that it was worse than an act of piracy and infringement of international maritime rights.

This is what Israel and IDF are all about, a gangster state and her gangster troops, who are accustomed to point Uzis even at children and show no respect for international Law.

What right IDF had to board the vessels in international waters?

UN chief Ban Ki-moon said he was "shocked by reports of killings and injuries" and called for a "full investigation" into what happened.

But the silence from the US and other EU members, is deafening.

If the Israeli regime carries on with this sort of behaviour continuously, it will be the end of such regime as the good Israelis will one day come on the streets.

Indeed, it was an unbecoming and extremely low behaviour, shown by Israel and her IDF robots.

    Good topic! Thanks

     A brutal ambush at sea

    Quote
Ron Ben Yishai recounts bloody clash aboard Gaza-bound vessel: The lacking crowd-dispersal means, the brutal violence of ‘peace activists,’ and the attempt to bring down an IDF helicopter

most of them Turks, and tied to an antenna with the hopes of bringing the chopper down. However, Flotilla 13 fighters decided to carry on.

Navy commandoes slid down to the vessel one by one, yet then the unexpected occurred: The passengers that awaited them on the deck pulled out bats, clubs, and slingshots with glass marbles, assaulting each soldier as he disembarked. The fighters were nabbed one by one and were beaten up badly, yet they attempted to fight back.

However, to their misfortune, they were only equipped with paintball rifles used to disperse minor protests, such as the ones held in Bilin. The paintballs obviously made no impression on the activists, who kept on beating the troops up and even attempted to wrest away their weapons.

One soldier who came to the aid of a comrade was captured by the rioters and sustained severe blows. The commandoes were equipped with handguns but were told they should only use them in the face of life-threatening situations. When they came down from the chopper, they kept on shouting to each other “don’t shoot, don’t shoot,” even though they sustained numerous blows. ...

Obama administration concerned about Gaza incident
    http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5iuQm_Y01E7nGKMGGUeDfWnAcxjLwD9G1RECG1

    Quote
CHICAGO — The Obama administration voiced concern on the eve of a scheduled Washington visit by Israeli's leader about the Jewish state's deadly commando attack on ships carrying pro-Palestinian activists on an aid mission to the blockaded Gaza Strip.

White House spokesman Bill Burton, speaking a day before President Barack Obama was scheduled to host Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for talks at the White House, said the United States "deeply regrets the loss of life and injuries sustained" in the incident.

Burton also said that administration officials are "currently working to understand the circumstances surrounding this tragedy." The United States, among others, has been trying to restart direct peace talks between the Israelis and Palestinians, but progress toward this achievement has lagged severely in recent months. At least 10 people were killed and dozens wounded in the incident Monday.

The raid brought heightened attention to Israel's blockade of the Gaza Strip, imposed after the Palestinian militant group Hamas seized control of the tiny Mediterranean territory in 2007. The blockade — along with Israel's fierce offensive against Gaza in the winter of 2008-2009 to stop Hamas rocket fire — has fueled anti-Israeli sentiment around the Arab world.

Obama, who has been pushing for a reinvigoration of the peace process, also has a meeting scheduled here June 9 with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

Obama was in Chicago Monday, and had an appearance at a Memorial Day event nearby on his schedule.

In a statement last week, the White House said that Obama and Abbas planned to discuss the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian proximity talks and ways the U.S. can work with both parties to move into direct talks. They also will discuss U.S. efforts to support the establishment of a Palestinian state.

Pro-Palestinian aid flotilla sets sail for Gaza

    Quote
HAIFA, Israel – Hundreds of pro-Palestinian activists, including a Nobel laureate and a Holocaust survivor, set sail Sunday for the Gaza Strip, edging closer to an expected naval showdown with Israeli gunships determined to stop them.

Huwaida Arraf, one of the organizers, said the six-ship flotilla began the journey from international waters off the coast of Cyprus in the afternoon after two days of delays. She said they expected to reach Gaza, about 250 miles (400 kilometers) away, on Monday afternoon, and that two more ships would follow in "a second wave."

    Quote
The flotilla was "fully prepared for the different scenarios" that might arise, and organizers were hopeful that Israeli authorities would "do what's right" and not stop the convoy, she said.

"We fully intend to go to Gaza regardless of any intimidation or threats of violence against us," she said. "They are going to have to forcefully stop us."

After nightfall, three Israeli navy missile boats left their base in Haifa, steaming out to sea to confront the activists' ships.

Two hours later, Israel Radio broadcast a recording of one of the missile boats warning the flotilla not to approach Gaza.

"If you ignore this order and enter the blockaded area, the Israeli navy will be forced to take all the necessary measures in order to enforce this blockade," the radio message continued.

The flotilla, which includes three cargo ships and three passenger ships, is trying to draw attention to Israel's three-year blockade of the Gaza Strip. The boats are carrying items that Israel bars from reaching Gaza, like cement and other building materials. The activists said they also were carrying hundreds of electric-powered wheelchairs, prefabricated homes and water purifiers.

    Quote
Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor said that after a security check, permitted humanitarian aid confiscated from the boats will be transferred to Gaza through authorized channels. However, Israel would not transfer items it has banned from Gaza under its blockade rules. Palmor said that for example, cement would be allowed only if it is tied to a specific project.

This is the ninth time that the Free Gaza movement has tried to ship in humanitarian aid to Gaza since August 2008.

Israel has let ships through five times, but has blocked them from entering Gaza waters since a three-week military offensive against Gaza's Hamas rulers in January 2009. The flotilla bound for Gaza is the largest to date.

    Quote
Some 700 pro-Palestinian activists are on the boats, including 1976 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Mairead Corrigan Maguire of Northern Ireland, European legislators and an elderly Holocaust survivor.

The mission has experienced repeated delays, both due to mechanical problems and a decision by Cyprus to bar any boat from sailing from its shore to Gaza. The ban forced a group of European lawmakers to depart from the breakaway Turkish Cypriot northern part of the island late Saturday.

Israel and Egypt imposed the blockade on Gaza after Hamas militants violently seized control of the seaside territory in June 2007.

From what I've read so far, I agree. Looking pretty bad for Israel as of now.

Observers inside Israel and overseas are, of course, still waiting to assemble a fuller picture of what happened in the early hours of Monday. It is, for example, still unclear how exactly the stand-off took place, and whether – as Israeli officials contend – some passengers were carrying weapons and used them against the naval commandos. For the time being, however, it is hard to escape the conclusion that the death of at least ten pro-Palestinian activists, sailing in international waters, will serve to push Israel even further into political and diplomatic isolation.
