  • Evolution Explained by Pics
     OP - June 15, 2010, 02:30 AM

    Hey gang,

These images are from my video 'Evolution for Muslims' (link in signature). I think they do a decent job at explaining evolution and natural selection.. they were eating dust just sitting on my hard drive, so I'm posting them here. Feel free to use them in debates and/or to explain evolution to people.

The following images are demonstrating how an insect with green shell is born in a population of brown insects. Because this helps him hide from predators better by blending in with grass, natural selection causes the green insects to spread while the browns go extinct. The same principle is then used for some other beneficial mutations like larger eyes, wings, antenas, etc to spread amongst the insect population, until the brown insects have evolved into larger, smarter, flying green insects.

The following images show a side by side comparison of some of the hominid skull fossils with a modern human skull, starting from the oldest fossil to the most recent fossil.

    Things to note:
    - Brain size capacity increasing with each fossil
    - Facial characteristics becoming less ape like and more human like with each fossil.

This shows how the nostrils have moved from the nose, to the middle of the skull, and then to the top of the skull between two early whale ancestors and modern whales:

The following images show examples of some vestigial organs:

This image shows & explains genetic evidence for Evolution. Human chromosome 2 is a result of 2 chromosomes found seperately in all other great apes:

    Hope this is helpful  Afro

You don't actually need to link to the images separately. Anyone can just right click and save them straight from the post. Smiley

Rofl. I think most people know about ripping images from web pages.  grin12 Just makes it easier when you want to post them too. Works either way though.

Added some more images. Os, do you think these images could be hosted by Cemb? I'm not sure how reliable the image hosting sites are

Yeah sure. We could zip the lot and link them from the OP. That would be the easiest way of downloading them.

ETA: Come to think of it, with those and several other things we have kicking around a dedicated downloads sections is getting to be on the cards. That's not hard to do either.

I've uploaded all the images in a zip to: http://www.mediafire.com/file/oitzwmnimk1/evolution.zip

So you can do anything you see fit with that. You're able to edit my OP and add/change links there, right Os?

P.S do you think this thread could be stickied?
