Hello everybody, first i'am happy that i have found this site, it is very good that there is a place like that where ex-muslims can express themselves freely. I'am an ex-muslim but i never accepted islam as it really is. My father is muslim and my mother converted to islam when she married him, we went to live in egypt in 2000, religion never played a big part in my life, the problem came when i grow up cause i had liberal thoughts and i understood that it was incompatible with my religion, so i decided to look further at religions's history and the holy books, i made some search and found that religions where more preaching hate than love, it surprised me to see that i was closer to people who where considered heretical than to prophets and other religious people, then i decided for the first time to doubt religion and god's existance, it was hard in the beginning but after that i felt better, it was good for the frist time to be free and to think as i want, of course i didn't told to anybody except my mother, cause they won't understand and it was hard  enough for me to be integrated in a culture which i disapprove most of it , it makes me sick not being able to be myself and being forced to play comedy towards friends and familly, i hate to act like an hypocrite but i'am forced to, actually i do my best to go back to europe where i would be able to be as i really am.

    Hello and welcome, Kero-Zen  Afro

You're not into Zen Buddhism by any chance, are ya?

Your story seems to be quite a common one among a lot of ex-Muslims. They live in predominantly Muslim countries/communities but they themselves do not believe. I imagine it must be very difficult to live like that, which is why it's particularly good to have a site like this.

But as I say, welcome  Afro

No i'am not into boudhism, but i always loved asian philosophy, i prefer to stand far from any kind of belief and take what i feel good from everything to create my own.
Yeah that's pretty hard to live that way, but it is good to know that i'am not alone and there people out there who share the same thoughts as me!!
