After hearing all my arguments since you have known me here, and knowing the fact that I claim to be an agnostic, do you still think I am being intentionally proud & stubborn about the question of Gods existence?

When you're stibborn with God, you're proud... In fact, you're deifying yourself too.

Few people would swap pride & arrogance for eternal torture and suffering.  I hope you are not putting Hassan in that category either.

Eh, that is so long I cannot be bothered listing all the fallacies.

You could just as well say "God is true axiomatically", it would make for a more consistent theory.

Do not look directly at the operational end of the device.

and what makes you so sure it's so full of fallacies? Last time you accused me of using a fallacy, you committed a fallacy yourself, a strawman.

why do you keep asking questions I already answered? I already said no. I think you and Hassan are genuinely not convinced in Islam, but then again, the proper answer is: I don't know. I wasn't there reading your minds when you arrived at the decision that Islam is false.

In a few days, but I need to take care of things before I leave (cleaning the apt, packing, shipping books, etc, etc).

    See ya later, inshallah.

Thanks, and that is the right anwer - I sat down objectively and tried to come to my own understanding over it.

So with that being said it makes it a contradiction.  As neither of us necessarily believe in a creator God, that means we are bound to hell for the wrong reasons, as you initially said Allah did this because it was down to us being punished for pride & arrogance.

I thought you said the reason why non-believers of a creator God go to hell is because of their pride & arrogance.

Here you were saying Hassan & I were prob not (and I can confirm thats true Wink) being proud & arrogant as agnostics.

So how do you square this circle, as we'll still burn despite not being proud & arrogant, not matter how much good we do in our lives?

I can't speak for debunker but from what I grasped from our discussion is that you and hassan will not be going to hell and thats why i was saying that hes denying the first pillar of Islam.

    Yea.

But according to (what i understand to be) debunkers interpretation they wont which was essentially the discussion we were having.

Not what I understood, but perhaps I am wrong.

According to DB, you dont have to believe in Mo or the Quran, but you have to believe in a creator God.  If not, then you go to hell, on account of being proud & arrogant.

Hass & I dont acknowledge the presence of a creator God so we are going to hell too.  However he believes we are not being proud & arrogant.  So now I want to know on what count we deserve to fry, that overrides any good we might do in the future?

    @islame

I probably said this a 100 times in this forum. If you believe in the Creator God but you honestly don't believe in the Quran, then at least you won't go to Hell.

In fact, even if you *honestly* don't believe God exists (and I find that's hard to believe), then at least you won't go to Hell.

    Quote
Imam al-Ghazzali reflects the Sunni understanding of al-A`raf which is a temporary place for those that will be tested before they reach their ultimate destination for one of several reasons, either because their good and bad deeds are equal, or because the Divine Message did not reach them, or because they died before reaching the age of legal responsibility, or for other reasons.

See for example the mention of the A`raf in the last few pages of the Hanafi Handbook of Fiqh, Manners and `Aqida titled al-Hadiyya al- `Ala'iyya by Imam `Ala' al-Din `Abidin, the son of the famous Imam Muhammad `Abidin the author of the Hashiya, Allah have mercy on them.

There IS a notion of purgatory in Islam, namely, hellfire for any Muslim that enters it - which we pray Allah spare us - since the firm belief of Ahl al-Sunna is that no Muslim shall abide in Hellfire forever but only so they be cleansed of their faults. And Allah knows best.

So as a non-muslim, somebody who believes Muhammed was a fake as well as his Quranic God, then I can still get to heaven  mysmilie_977

Begs the question, what is the point of not eating a ham sandwich or circumcision now doesnt it?

Yea me and him discussed this somewhere in the mrasheed thread. I mentioned the "good and bad deeds equal" thing and also that people who went to jihad and died without their parents permission go there.

But its only for muslims and its only a temporary place until they receive judgement. (according to the mufassirun)

I don't think any Muslim scholar holds the opinion that a "kaffir" will go there. This is what he was speculating about.

    Thats what I was saying.

Also he doesnt say you will go to heaven. He said he didn't know and that you would only not goto hell. Then he suggested that you would possibly goto "the heights" me and blackdog were discussing it in the last couple posts.

Exactly. I think his concept that a man that believes in God but is not a muslim does not go to hell but goes to purgatory is a novel one. I have never come across it before.

As a muslim I thought all people that believed in God would go to heaven Smiley

I can't find evidence that proves this.

    For real?

Ive noticed the kaffirs burning in hell seems to be an off-putting concept to some (hassan for example)

When I was a muslim i had no problem with this. I was like burn those kaffir motherfuckers. and burn those fucking shias too haha

What you thought shias would burn? Why?

But the thing is that you were a kafir before. Your family are kafir. So that didn't bother you?
