    Don't forget Avril Lavigne.

Here's an awesome Canadian band from the late 70s, but they never signed to a major label and are not very well-known, so according to RIBS' Law they must suck:

You also forgot Bachman Turner Overdrive

Well looking nice and sounding nice is a must to be a star. No way, that you can get away with just the looks. There was that bogus band of two good looking guys who had gone down the drain as soon as they were discovered to lip sync. What was their name?

And for the beatles, they were also for the charms and the looks as well as for their talent. Watch them here at Shea Stadium (USA) in 1965 play a song that only the could here, apparently because their Vox amps were of very poor quality and low sound that the crowd cheers were louder than their sound. Lennon was playing the piano with his elbow!

I am not a fan by the way, but I get annoyed when people trash talented people for i dont know what reason.

Since when do people have to agree with your definition of 'talent'?

I have no definition for the perfect or optimum talent Peru, but I appreciate talents even if it is not to your scale. I salute people who have above average skills.

Yup, that was their name. That was a flop, they only counted on looks. So, in JB's case, the looks alone will not work. As I think it is safe to say the there are millions of nicer and cuter looking boys. Or girls.

Being talented doesn't mean that it's worthy of appreciation, especially when it's hardly unique and uninteresting, and just about every other comment made on this thread. Of course some people will feel otherwise (like yourself). But these things always come with a difference of opinion which  should be expected.

Not everyone will feel like he has talent worthy of applause.

That makes no fucking sense. Music is totally subjective. How can you measure art? Every piece of music or art has it's relevance to one period or demographic. For me, Justin Bieber's music is total crap and I'd rather have a girl with sharp braces suck my cock than listen to that garbage. Why should I say he has talent when I can't stand listening to it? I hate it when people argue matters of pure taste and try to pass off their judgements on art as if there is a standard.

Justin Bieber is a little cunt and once he reaches puberty and his voice cracks he'll be done his 15 minutes of fame.

Yes I totally agree with you. But I am confused as why they hate him so much. I will repeat again, He does not sing the type of music I like, but I have listened to one or two of his songs and I can tell you that he seems to be very much like the rest of the teen singers and bands. Hana Montana, the johns brothers etc etc.

But whatever. I think taste in music differ enourmously.

Because it's fun. It's what people do. It's what I do. You're overthinking it and taking it too seriously.

This has always been the fate of the pretty boy pop singer. N sync, backstreet boys, justin bieber - loved by little pre-pubescent girls.. hated by the rest. Its just how the world works.

There you go. You see, talent is in the eyes of the beholder. A guy called "Fecal" would obviously value eating regurgitated shit, while others may not admire such a skill. It's all subjective.

sorry Iblis, but just because you have premise p and conclusion q, doesn't mean that not-p will somehow lead to not-q.
They may be doing something difficult, but their level of talent doesn't take away from Justin.
Apart from that, as you were.  grin12

Well no. My point is that doing something difficult doesn't equal talent. Which applies to eating shit or singing.

But it's not all subjective. For example-- you have two people of the same age, one immediately learned the violin after a couple of lessons and became a virtuoso, while the other took lessons for years and can barely play the simplest of music (basically they'll never advance beyond intermediate level)-- in such a scenario, can you really say that a person declaring the former to be more talented at violin than the latter is a subjective statement?

And what 23 year olds like him?

    Iraqi Atheist. Oh, wait...he's 24.

  • Re: Justin Bieber...

I agree, but doing something difficult is not the only factor of being talented.
There are other ways of determining talent and it usually involves doing something perfectly. For a singer, that would be hitting the right notes at the right time and Justin is doing that.
My point is that there are more than just one defintion of talent and you can't reject his talent based on one definition alone.  Smiley

When you have a contrast like that, then of course you can set those apart. And skills on a violin is a lot easier to measure than something like pop music or singing. I find singing to be a lot more varied and subject to taste than instrumental skills.
