For Iftar, we usually have samosas, falafel, these fried dough things, soup and some other stuff I'm forgetting  but never anything really heavy, like rice or pasta.

That's the thing; we never really eat, even after Maghrib. My dad will usually have some pasta, and mum might have…rice Cheesy but I never used to eat anything, other than a little bit of soup sometimes.

Rice is brilliant. Just had some rice with spinach and lamb. Was good.

I wonder, is not tipping a norm in your culture?

Like it certainly is in Indian culture. Brown people are assholes.  Cheesy

Not necessary,it depends on whether you want to or not.Although its normal to give out money to relatives or someone that is broke without expecting any payback otherwise one would be offended if you pay them back. In fact some would also be offended if you refuse to accept money as a gift. Unlike Americans who see charity as an insult. Grin

I thought I had my depression under control, then found myself up til 4 in the morning on Sunday crying and calling a couple distress hotlines.

Guess I'll need to try medication #4 now...

I hate the muslim people in my College. Couple of weeks ago, I met one of my colleague and she was with one of her friend that I never met before. Originally, my colleague wanted to say hi and talk a little bit to me, but her hijabi friend, that I never knew her existence before, looked at me in a weird way and said: "Pardon me, but isn't it a little bit too tight those jeans?".

Who the fuck are you? arghh.

I would, but I just nodded off instead and said "Whatever". It was awkward after that, but I really didn't care. I'm not even hiding my apostasy or my beliefs to people anymore.

There is no snow here, just fake cold sunshine, crappy red brick buildings, and my sour faced neighbours.

I'm tempted to close the curtains but then I'd be stuck in the misery of no daylight.

Just need to hold on for a little longer.

The only way I can eat okra or broccoli is if I cook them myself.

Haha. Close. I come from a Pakistani family. Indians/Pakistanis make pretty much the same kinds of food and okra is one of their favorites. My mother taught me how to make it when I was younger so I could eat vegetables without getting sick.
