    what i mean is dont expect special treatment for something that is ultimately ur choice (that u perceive as not really ur choice and is the will of allah) other people perceive things differently .. ur perception is not a mandate... i was talking with a friend the other day ... he is a devout muslim beard and stuff ... he was like they banned niqab in france ... i told him will its not right to ban a choice but i think it should be banned in places where facial recognition is required ... i.e school  , banks stuff like that ... his response was ok why not let other women check the identity of these women in the niqab ... to me thats a special treatment .... its like saying i am a hindu so put all macdonalds outlets away .....

    tabun: I have never expected special treatment even when I was not Muslim. I do not expect it now that I am. I go with the flow...when I fly, bus, or train, go into a bank, store, restaurant. I just expect to be treated like a person...which is what I always get.

    If I am asked to remove my niqab most often it is by a female. If a male, my husband is always with me and it is no problem, I do not have to see this man again(thats the good part about it) dance

    I cringed when I read her post. I can remember spouting the same lines word for word! My opinion now is that how a man treats you is based on how you carry yourself and act as a woman. Since taking off my hijab and leaving Islam there hasn't been a huge increase in men flirting with or whistling at me. I always found it amusing that I got the most attention from people when I went out in a black abaya. Seemed to defeat the whole point of modesty.
