    Welcome Mufa.   Smiley

We have several threads in the Science sub forum dealing with embryology and similar claims.  I was going to link you, but if your brother is going to hit you with all the science in the Qu'ran bull shit I'd recommend you take a browse through that part of the forum.

hey hey, Not sure if i am posting this in the correct place  but oh well !

i got referred to this site from this man i met on Atheist Nexus . this site is genius! got the feeling i'll form an addiction the next coming weeks . i've been on this site for a bit over a month but only recently (today) read some posts . i read the post about numerical miracle in the Quran ,a post that i was also referred to by the same person and i got excited! u see  i had a mini discussion with my little brother about religion. he scanned a book i had bought in Jordan and saw the mention of Richard Dawkins in the back. after i asked him what he thought  , he said, i'm not a fan of Richard Dawkins. mind you, my brother recently started getting religious. beard, praying and all .so he asked me two minutes later : are you looking for proof? i haven't really come out as an atheist but i didn't wanna hide my books out of fear of going crazy. anyways  the story ends with him sending me *miracle emails* one of which mentioned the miracle of numbers in the Quran and i was about to start researching it for myself but my will failed me . so it's really good to see some people already on it . i'm getting inspired to join in . i'll probably reply to each of his emails with my own emails that disprove it . oh, he sent miracle of embryology . im still not quite sure how i'll respond to his emails. any advice?

This was discussed several times ago.

Just click the stamps on top of the quotes to see the complete threads.

The claims of embryology in the Qur'an originated with Professor Keith Moore, a former professor of Anatomy at the University of Toronto, Canada, who at one stage worked at the King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.  In the early 1980s this man produced a special edition of his standard textbook on embryology after claiming that he was ""astonished by the accuracy of the statements that were recorded in the 7th century AD, before the science of embryology was established"

He has since achieved a similar level of fame among muslims as Maurice Bucaille, although like Bucaille, he never converted to Islam despite having apparently proven that the Qur'an was the word of God.   Roll Eyes

    Some info about him here....

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keith_L._Moore

There's so much wrong with the claims Moore made, I'll just leave it till tomorrow to organise and summarise it all, I'm too tired tonight.  (In a nutshell, Mohammed plagiarised it all off Galen, including all Galen's mistakes).  In the meantime, this video might be of interest......

What gets me about the claims that the Qur'an reveals miraculous information about embryology etc... in the Qur'an is that the God clearly did a rubbish job of conveying this miraculous information since the Muslim scientists at their height spent all their time using the books of the Greeks and their commentators as their starting points - and made similar mistakes and assumptions as they did.

If only they had read the Qur'an!

They have to wait 1400 years for non-Muslims to discover the details of embryology and other areas of science and suddenly Muslims shout:

"It was in the Qur'an all along!"

which is all true except for the last part . we are kuffar  (to them) we are attacking islam (kinda)

Moore didn't convert to Islam? Huh? Interesting.

No, I emailed him and he told me he hadn't.  On that video he made 2 claims

1: The embryonic information in the Quran (as presented to him at least) is accurate.
2: He doesn't know how Muhammad could have known that information unless God revealed it to him.

Now he will only say "I stand by what I said ABOUT THE QURAN" (my emphasis).  When asked he refused to comment on whether or not he believes point 2, and won't comment on the work of Aristotle and Galen which not only predated Muhammad but was also apparently available in Alexandria in Arabic.

In short, he did it for the money - and that really disappoints me.

I don't come here any more due to unfair moderation.

Looks like now that the 'scientific miracles' have been debunked to feck that these so-called numerical miracles are what theyre running to now. Nothing sleazier than bogus special effects, I say.And welome, neophyte

That was my initial thought, but Zakir Naik claimed More said the shahada in one of his books.  Huh? It's one lie after another with that guy.

The scienctific knowledge contained in the Quran was stolen by Jews. That's the reason the scientific know how is missing from Muslim countries.

The proof of that is there for everyone to see: 12 millions Jews end up winning almost 130 Nobel Prizes, while 1200 million Muslims have won only 6 - how is that possible? Only explanation is that Jews stole all the knowledge contained in the Quran and substituted the bogus sceince like the Sun sets in the muddy waters or the Earth is supported by pegs etc.

One more thing - Jews are holding the knowledge in secret books hidden away in some deep caverns in Israel, USA and India; nobody can get at it. It has come to my light that Hindu hermits in the caves of Mount Everest (Himalayas) are conspiring with the Jews. The problem is no Muslim has climbed the Mount Everest.

I know your posts Mr. Ram., but I say your light has no photons or your light detectors are not working properly.. You got to go to "Photon counting mode" to find that., Any ways., Muslim did climb mount Everest..

    Quote
And  Two Iranians are the first Muslim women to conquer Mount Everest after a 10-week expedition that was beset by bad weather and an avalanche that injured other team members. Farkhondeh Sadegh, a graphic designer, and Laleh Keshavarz, a dentist, hoisted their country's tricolor flag on the 29,035-foot summit, together with six Iranian men, on Monday morning.

"It's fantastic," Mohammad Hajabolfath, the editor of the website Iran Mountain Zone (www.mountainzone.ir), told the Monitor by telephone from Tehran. "It is a very big thing for women in Iran. Because of appalling weather conditions, most climbers here expected to hear the Iranian team would be returning unsuccessfully."

So people born in Islam did climb Mount Everest. Or may be those who climber mount Everest by default can not be Muslims.. The are Ex-Ms... lol..
