Hi there...
I came across this site when I was looking for some fact to support my apostasy. And I found this site veryyy greaat....
Anyway, I'm a 20 years old male from Indonesia. I have been an apostate from about 6 months ago. But I've stop practicing since 3 years ago.
I came from a not so religious parents. But I've been a devoted muslim since I was a child thanks to my grandpa. But then, the older I grew, the more I feel that something is wrong from this Islam.
I really love to share my belief with people. But here, in Indonesia, the idea of being an atheist seems so bad. until now, I haven't tell anyone about my apostasy yet, as every people around me are muslims. It's really painful to keep pretending like this.

btw, I think that the Indonesian Islam is the worst of all. Here, they mix that Islam with some supernatural culture that make it even more rubbish. And also they fully maintain the barbaric and ignorant culture of that True Islam..

If you feel uncomfortable/unsafe about telling people about your apostasy, just tell them you are "not religious".

I was talking to someone from Indonesia some time ago, he was telling me that in Indonesia you really need to have a religion. He said that people don't really mind which religion you are but just don't be an atheist because people spit at you in the streets if they know about it.

Have you never come across another atheist in Indonesia before? There are a few already here you know

I always saw Indonesia & Malaysia as the least "barbaric" and softest Muslim countries around. Is that not true anymore? Is Indonesia also going though an islamic revival now?
