syrian? I mean these ethnic breakdowns make no sense. I think doing a geographic origin may have been easier and more "PC". Its vastly clear in India that there are different groups of people but within the arab countries it is also varied.

I wish parents everywhere could remove their veil of religion and see their kids for whom they actually are.

its really the fault of the word "ethnic", because that term is so wide in definition it almost describes nothing. you could claim that ethnically syrian and pakistanis are the same. Of course no one would accept that but it could be used as an example.

North African or Arabized North African (please specify): Algerian/Amazigh. Some say my family originally comes from Turkey, or from the Jewish regions of Syria, or even from Arabia (doubtful, since it was common to lie about this to rise in society back in the day.) It doesn't matter, though, since considering that only a tiny bit of my genes comes from a direct paternal lineage, I'm probably overwhelmingly Amazigh, with some Arab blood. I pick "White" on official forms, though, such as uni applications (as my school adviser said I should), since the US Census Bureau defines white people "as people having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East or North Africa."
