    Osmanthus, Aziz,

    When people type long messages in the ShoutBox (over ~296 characters), and click Shout, their post gets truncated.  I think the textbox should not let them continue typing beyond the limit.  This will save them from cursing the Internet Lords.

    Current HTML standards don't support the maxlength attribute on textareas. HTML5 will support it but until then it's not worth messing around with IMO. Wink
