Well, it is artistic, certainly. Don't think it is art or a moral lesson. It would be an insult to the religious, I imagine, they'd probably find it outrageous. Which is probably why Theo Van Gogh was murdered. But from the little I know, I find it more of an attack on the culture of Islam (and then a smaller subset within), rather than Islam itself (although Islam certainly allows/encourages the formation of said culture, like "Don't question my brother's honour".
Plus the forced marriage (I don't think marriage is supposed to be forced, but once married, the woman must basically do as the husband says, etc), which opens a lot of room for exploitation, entrapment and lack of trust. =\
I agree. It gives less liberty for women and children and more power to the males. They are getting more advanced though.
I do find much in a moral lesson from that film though.
