    I'm watching a documentary that suggests that primitive man was visited by aliens, and those aliens were thought of as gods and inspired various religions. In this part they show a 2000 year old artifact obtained from columbia/peru which looks very similar to an air craft. Its classified as an insect, however the people being interviewed on the documentary don't agree.. and they build a remote controlled model airplane based on the design of the aircraft to test it. They were able to make the aircraft fly, which could mean that 2000 years ago the people could've witnessed aircrafts.

    Its pretty fascinating stuff, if it is true...

    She means that projectiles or their tips were designed to be aerodynamic for a while

    Hmm, true enough, but the artifact they found looks too similar to an air craft of some kind. They were able to build an exact replica of that design and make it fly.

    Spear points also look like an aircraft of some kind.  You have to take into account how they built it and the duration of the flight as well.  The program would not have been interesting had the experiment been a failure.  There is nothing to it, at an early stage man grasped that aerodynamically designed projectiles flew longer and and better then others when they were chucking objects at food and at each other.

    You can of course be right Smiley. You might be wrong on a few minor points though, the model airplane was built in 1994 while the documentary aired sometime in 2008-2009. 2ndly, if you see the object, it has many components found in air crafts like a stabiliser, the fuel storage place, etc. The similarities to an air craft are a bit higher than a spear point.

    Aerodynamics is an ancient concept, and mankind has dreamed of flight since the earliest times. These idols resembling planes could easily be inspired by birds or arrows. Couple that with the belief in anthropomorphised deities and mythological figures, and the desire to contact them or some day return to them, or that these beings directly intervene and visit their subjects at times, and it follows that there will be all kinds of wild ideas and theories about how they travel or how marvellous their thrones must be, in turn expressed through devotional art and craft.

    I find the idea of ancient astronaut fascinating and imaginative though, like any good myths.

    Have you seen the vid and the artifact that I'm talking about? Its not too easy to pass off as just based on birds or arrows, birds don't have stabilizers or wings in the same place as an aircraft, for example Wink

    There are thousands of simmilar artifacts, across a wide spectrum of different sizes and shapes, as well as countless variations of simmilar myths expressed in art, literature and oral traditions of many ancient civilisations. They chose the one most resembling a modern aviation shape and made a lightwight motor powered scale model of it.

    I'd like to think a star-faring alien race didn't fly around in cute, stub-nosed, toy-like aeroplanes.

    So what's your explanation for how they created a design that similar to an aircraft, including the wings, fuel storage place, etc?  Smiley

    There's also some other interesting evidence in support of that hypothesis, for example cave paintings found which depict people in what could be astronaut helmets, like this painting:



    There are also various ancient buildings that would require advanced technology to build, e.g to cut the stones as precisely as they are here in the ruins of a place called puma punko:


    EDIT: Forgot to mention, that the stones above were built by a civilization that didn't have writing knowledge, and it was also at a time when they didn't have steel, wheels, etc.

    It comes as no suprise that our conceptualizations of "aliens" and the technology we have produced resemble *drum rolls* whatever we have come up with in the distant past.

    Much of religion is the product of our own petty foolishness, we must learn to accept this in order to overcome it and instead not try to justify it somehow or blame it on others. If we must have an unpardonable sin, this should be it.

    In fact, the technology should be more advanced than what we have now.

    It just seems to good to be true, something you want to believe in.

    And if you were an alien able to traverse the globe, why would you settle in one part of the world? And then just leave some obscure shit and then leave? :/

    I wish there were aliens. I wish they visited us and might visit. The universe would be less lonely. But I also wish I didn't have the giant balls that I had because my back keeps hurting me and my testosterone level is unhealthy. The slightest agitation makes me kill people. I have killed 20 people so far, 3 dogs, 2 bears, and one fire truck that was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

    Actually you're right, I was thinking the same thing, but one explanation could be that they wanted to leave a mark of themselves in something that would last for a long time, and stone is the best material for that (i.e longest lasting).

    If they had a hand in building the ruins of puna punko, they could also be behind the construction of the pyramids, which were also very advanced and had the same precise cutting of stone so all blocks fit together.. but who knows! Tongue

    I’m not sure about the cities of Puna Punko, but we have a pretty good understanding of how the pyramids of Egypt were built. Its not as fantastic or colossus a task as it looks, and by that time had been reduced to a methodical and well practiced process. It takes only 20 men to drag one of the stones using the methods of the time. There is evidence of how the stones were cut, with stones at various stages of the process still left at the quarries, as well as bronze chisels and other tools. There is artwork depicting beasts of burden and manpower as a means to drag the stones long distances, sleds, rafts, ramps, reinforced roads, as well as the physical evidence of these things that survived. None of this needed divine or extraterrestrial assistance.

    Could Bronze chisels have been used to cut millions of stones as precisely as they are cut? (2.3 million to be precise)  Huh?

    How could stone such as granite have been cut by bronze chisels? Granite is a very hard material.

    If the pyramids were built to house pharoah's bodies, how come no such bodies were found inside the pyramids?

    Could 25-80 tonnes heavy stones be lifted by 20 men..? (The capacity of a modern crane is around 18 tonnes). The earliest use of wheels is found in around 3500 BC, whereas the pyramid of giza was built 1000 years before that, so the egyptians didn't have wheels or pulleys to move the stones either. How could they left them so high and put them precisely in the right place? (The giza pyramid was the tallest building in the world till 100-200 years ago). Could they move 25-80 ton heavy stones to this height without some sort of advanced technology?

    Then there are also other monolith structures like the stonehedge, built by even more primitive societies who also had no way of carrying such large stones across vast distances required to build the structures.

    P.S did you know that the egyptian gods are actually thought to have come from the skies, and the pharoahs were considered descendants of those gods?

    - Inventing a compass system on the spot, clearly needing advanced scientific knowledge for that
    - Having 81 brothers, i.e possibly other aliens from his planet?
    - And the biggest, preparing for his ascent into heavens once he was done..?

    There are also myths associated with him, like controlling demons, etc, which could be attributed to a vivid imagination or misconceptions of the technology
