why are they locking that thread

nice to see most of the comments were against the assass, although i did come across this gem
Brother you have named your self "Defending Islam" but do not know the basic fact about what the fate of blasphemers in Islam is. Anyone who is not elated by this news should do a thorough check of their imaan.
Salman Taseer did not simply criticize the way this law is executed in Pakistan rather his attack was on the law itself. The law states that anyone who insults the Prophet faces the death penalty. In essence he was saying that giving the death penalty to those who commit this type of blasphemy is wrong rather he called it a "dark law" or "kala qanoon" in Urdu. This is an insult on the Shariah itself.
Thirdly, your first comment that ordinary citizens cannot take the law in their own hands and go around executing blasphemers is wrong. In Hanafi fiqh - the prevalent school in Pakistan - ordinary citizens can execute the murtad or in this case those who insult the Prophet if the government (read the Islamic ruler) fails to do so or if they do it before the government does it. It is merely makruh tanzihi which means its disliked but there is no sin upon the person who does this. (see Fatawa Alamgiri, 254, also see Fathul Qadeer)
Whether or not the blasphemy law applied on Salman Taseer is a another debate. He did something far greater than that, he insulted the law and tried to open the doors for the enemies of Islam in Pakistan to insult and criticize the Prophet and his actions.
Whoever said that got it right, in regards to Islam.
Sure, it's great that there are Muslims who opposed the killing(s).
But all they have to offer are excuses, and at the end of the day, they allow the monstrosities to continue.
