    Salman Taseer did not simply criticize the way this law is executed in Pakistan rather his attack was on the law itself. It is merely makruh tanzihi which means its disliked but there is no sin upon the person who does this. (see Fatawa Alamgiri, 254, also see Fathul Qadeer)

    Whether or not the blasphemy law applied on Salman Taseer is a another debate. He did something far greater than that, he insulted the law and tried to open the doors for the enemies of Islam in Pakistan to insult and criticize the Prophet  and his actions.

    Anyways, the people who are saying that islam teaches patience and whatever .. are absolute ignorant fools. They know nothing about blasphemy law. There are tons and tons of evidence from Hadeeth that the penalty of anyone who insults Rasoolullah (SAWW) is death. And the point that Rasoolullah (SAWW) forgave people who made fun of him or insulted him is a seperate issue. That was in Makkah mostly. After Fatah-e-Makka, there were clear cut instructions from Rasoolullah (SAWW), that even if a person who has insulted me, is hanging by the cloth of Kaaba, should be killed.

    Whoever said that got it right, in regards to Islam.

    Sure, it's great that there are Muslims who opposed the killing(s).
