Before you can make any impact, you have to get creos to absorb the fundamentals of how evolution occurs. Perhaps the most important part of this is to get them to think about what a species is. They tend to think it is something rigidly defined with definite boundaries, whereas in reality it's more of a convenient pigeonhole that people use to make classification easier.
Ring species are a much more useful thing to talk about than transitional fossils, because ring species demonstrate the fluidity of genomes in real time. Get that basic point across and you can then elablorate to drive home further points about evolution.
