the only game i really consistently play is soldat. i dibble and dabble in other RTS games like bloodline champions and league of legends when i'm asked to and MMORPGS like WoW(priv servers) and Runes of Magic but not often.

Dude, AoE is an RTS and Civ is turn based strategy. HUGE difference.

    Both are city-building games.

But Civ being turn-based shouldn't discourage him from playing it.

He did say he was a big fan of Starcraft, after all.

City building? Try Sim City 4 or Caesar IV. Now THAT'S City Building. cool2

yeah Aurora I used to play that too. If you like it, you'd LOVE Anno 1404 which is a mix of city building and RTS

Theme Hospital is an extremely good game, very funny as well.

And I also remember Sim Theme Park being amazing as well, but it has been a while since I played it.

I love Sim games but I go for more Japanese RPGs for their strong story telling and character development.
I'm currently studying game design, I'm planning one day to do a religious game :p and when I say religious I mean to point out flaws in religion, but in a  fun way. I'm on a mission :3

4 is extremely HARD I think it's best to start with 5 since it is much easier (although CIV 5 AI is terrible and extremely stupid)

However the transmission from 5 to 4 would be a problem coz you will get downgraded from moving in hexes to moving in squares.

Civ 6 will be Civ 4 quality with Civ 5 hexes and army interface Smiley

lawl.  That was the single best event in WOW even retards were complaining about it " ruining the game". I had a blast and it was the time that I spend the most time on wow.
