Nah bro, what I'm saying is, what's natural for different species is different, it might be natural for wolves to live in a society which is all about killing the weak, whereas its natural for ants to all work together and sacrifice themselves if needed. Is living like wolves actually natural for humans, or are humans more naturally inclined towards coexisting? That's what I'm asking.

I see. My contention is simply that nature, whether human or otherwise, has ugly facets. Men are prone to aggression and superstition and racism and sexism and social hierarchy. What is natural tells us nothing about what is good.

Taking lives of humans and animals is wrong at every level.

You don't believe that at all. You accept that a person may kill in self-defence, in war, in armed hostage situations, in assassinating genocidal tyrants bent on aggression or do you not? If you are a complete pacifist, let me know. If not, then the above sentence is plainly false.

In self defense, you can avoid killing as much as possible. If you own a gun just for self defense, I would say own a teaser rather. If your to be murderer is in the kitchen, rather than using knife, use chilli pepper and throw it in his eyes.
Wars should be thing of the past now.
Death penalty to serial killers is like giving them easy way out. Keep them alive and torture them.

Its not only words. Its your sentence structure. I would rather skip what you said than give myself headache trying to process what you wrote in each sentence.
But I think it is improved now. You didn't need to use words like egalitarianism, squabbling etc..

I enjoy reading Mr. Mount Bison's posts. He has the ability to get his point across and be entertaining at the same time. His sentences are elaborate but he does make things clear.

It is refreshing to read Bison's posts after reading the obnoxius posts written by high school boy called Q-Man.

    @Prince

I was infected with the vegetarian creed when my flame-haired Jewish babe handed me a copy of Peter Singer's Animal Liberation. I haven't always been faithful to my convictions, but I consider it the only morally tenable position a man can hold who's thought through the matter.

I don't contend that, but giving up meat is... fricking hard.

We accept that there are times when it is appropriate not just to kill an aggressor, but even innocent civilians in the service of a greater cause.

Not sure muddy accepts that.. Tongue

Modern warfare inescapably claims civilians. To embark on any large scale military venture is to take that into consideration. Do you know how many civilians were killed in WW2? How about in Iraq? Afghanistan? Yugoslavia? If you can think of any major war that has not claimed thousands of civilians you can do something I cannot.

That statement isn't enough to justify it. I expected more MAB. I am disappoint.

Of course it's hard. It was hard for me to stop raping Q-Man as well, but slowly but surely I weened myself off his flesh. Been clean for three weeks.

Seriously though, I wasn't always faithful to the vegetarian diet either, but every morsel of flesh sat uneasily with my conscience. Proof yet again that man is driven primarily by emotion, by how things make him feel than the rational operations of his mind.

So what is the remedy then, keep watching/reading about what goes on in farms until you can't stomach meat any longer?

Why don't you just leave Muddy to me Don? I have something special I want to show him, something meaty, hard and ten inches long. Can you guess what it is my sweet?

Speak not evil of my gay lover. Q-Man puts on this tough guy act but if you had ever mounted him like a bison, if you had felt his gorgeous lips wrap around your hairy nipple, you would know just what a gentle guy he is. A true romantic.

Duly noted. But I am allergic to morons, matters not how "gentle" they are. But I am glad that you are able to make good use of him. But please remember that he needs to be disciplined and taught some manners.

Why would someone not eat meat? We can't process raw unprocessed (at least beaten) meat, but Humans and human ancestors have used Fire for milions of years. We became homo sapiens because our hominid ancestors started using fire and hand axes be4 a long long time ago.. So eating processed meat is as natural for a human as eating grass is for a cow..

Domestic animals profit from us as much as we do from them... We keep their numbers inflated (secure their existence as beings) while we get food from them...  If we stopped eating meat altogether, millions of cows would die, billions of chickens would die from starvation or other predators.

On the other hand what about tribes who inhabit the northern most parts of our world, whose existence is based on animals (homes, clothes, fire, meat, alcohol, milk etc etc)?

If domestication of animals is a bad thing, than ask yourself why did the Cats domesticate themselves? They profited from it, as did all domesticated animals....

these are my 2 cents about this topic, and i will never stop eating meat... Veggies are just spoiled, western emos who have no idea of the hardships of life...

    Good bye
    B.

Great comfort for an animal that has spent its short life in cramped unhygenic concentration camp conditions its fate sealed from the moment it was born with no chance to flee from or defend itself or its offspring against those intent on killing and eating them:

    www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKHMv48bpsQ

I don't approve of the gratuitous killing of animals but at least the masai take on lions with hand weapons at serious risk to their own lives - unlike moronic gun freak "hunters" who kill at a distance and are responsible for driving large parts of the world's wild fauna to the verge of exinction and beyond.

If cows "dieing" is a justification to eat them then logically it is a justification to NOT eat them. Perhaps you mean that if we stopped eating meat domesticated cow varieties would DIE OUT. Did you?

Do you eat fish muddy? Don't fish have feelings and families too?
Is taking fish out of the water and letting them suffocate do death not inhumane?
While we're talking about respecting animals and their emotions, why do you drink milk? Never occurred to you that a cow might find that offensive?

I don't get all this nonsense about selecting a group of animals you don't wish to eat because they are living beings too, while not being consistent at all.
