    This guy is a theist and he got the boot from Dawkins' website for calling him on his chickening out of debating William Lane Craig. Even 'rational' people censor views they don't like, it would seem.

    He's debated John Lennox more than once, Alister McGrath, a bishop, even Ted Haggard! Why won't he debate Craig despite being asked to several times? Because he knows he'd lose. Hitchens may have lost to WLC but at least he had the courage of his convictions to do it.

    And WLC may be a sophist, but he does present some sophisticated arguments, and he's certainly more nuanced in his argumentation than Dawkins is.

    Dawkins has a long standing policy of not debating various sorts of wackos. "Calling him out" on this would obviously be seen as pointless trolling and spamming. Kicking someone for that is not quite the same as censorship.

    I agree about booting out theists from popular atheist sites to keep the things clean and readable for someone who wants to read atheist information.

    When did Dawkins ever "debate" Ted Haggard?  I know he interviewed him, I don't recall any debate being held between them.   Roll Eyes

    It's also a long standing tactic of various religious nuts to rock up at atheist sites and make as much pointless noise as possible for as long as they can, with the full expectation of being booted for it, just so they can then go and bleat about being censored or persecuted. It's called "witnessing".

    That being said he I think there is a difference between censoring legitimate claims such as if the argument of an infinite regress was presented and it was deleted and if someone shows up to call dawkins a chicken.  They aren't the same thing.  I would fully expect to get booted from a Christian board if I called Jesus a faggot who enjoyed anal sex with the apostles or Muhammad a child raping serial killer on a Muslim board. The differences is that both rational arguments and pedantic arguments get censored on religious forums. That being said in general I think its a bad idea to censor but it should be at the discretion of the board operators to make the site runs smoothly.  It's a thin line to walk.
    So once again I'm left with the classic Irish man's dilemma, do I eat the potato or do I let it ferment so I can drink it later?

    WLC may be a typical apologist, but he's not a wacko, certainly no more a wacko than other people Dawkins has given the time of day to. Yet, when asked to debate him, he claims not to have the time. It's not really surprising that some people are led to believe he's being evasive.

    And there's nothing wrong with criticising someone for refusing to take on the more difficult arguments and opponents on the other side. It hardly constitutes 'trolling,' ill-defined though that term may be. And of course kicking someone for spamming and trolling is one thing, kicking them for merely criticising someone is another altogether.

    Granted, not a formal debate. But he did seem to find time for a discussion with him, despite his being a young-earth creationist crackpot. Craig is not, so why hasn't he the time to discuss with him?

    Yes, they have a  right to censor what they want on their own board and so on, but I hardly think this guy went so far as to say stuff like that. That and, since secularists claim to be so pro-free expression you'd think they'd have tougher skin about such things.

    He didn't delete the comment apparently. So it's not censorship, it's cleansing the site.

    This dude, however well expressed he is, opted to argue the lack of a debate when he could have mimicked Dr.Craigs argument and gotten his point through, if he actually had a point to make. Why's he surprised he's not taken seriously.

    Ps. Funny Observation.He referred to  Craig as Craig, then goes on to criticize Dawkins for calling him Mr Craig.

    I don't know why this is surprising to anyone. They regularly censored people when RD.net was a legit forum, and then they basically trashed the forum without consulting anyone and rebuilt the site to where it no longer had a true discussion forum component. Pretty obvious the people who run the site don't care much for open debate and discussion there.

    Increase in atheism = lack of one more unsubstantiated belief in a world full of unsubstantiated beliefs.

    Increase in secularism = relatively greater freedom to believe whatever you want without imposing it on everyone else.

    I would conclude that such increases are positively correlated with rationality.

     probably not and the forum probably deleted the thread out of some kind of bias towards affirmation and an aversion towards negative opinions.   On a nitty side secularists can range from totalitarian to free speech anarchists.  If you mean the general western approach to secularism I would more or less agree and think they should probably more thick skinned and less quick to delete.

     he is a " good debater" ( though some of his debate techniques are cheap shots) in the sense that he seems articulate, stays on topic, and has a " commanding " presence. He generally knows what he is talking about and approaches from more of an academic tone of rhetoric than a red neck Christian pastor.  That being said the actual things he says, the actual substance of his arguments are normally fallacious or a weasel wordy way to get out of things.
