     OP - May 25, 2011, 01:58 PM

Hey guys! Long time no see.  Afro

How you all been in this crazy deranged world of ours, struggling to find a small island sanity in a vast sea of insanity? Unfathomable degrees of lunacy separating our desire to find the inner peace and calm and happiness we all desire?

H.P. Lovecraft fan boy antics aside, how you all been?

I've been away for so long because of my own personal commitments, work, blood, sweat, tears, and the occasional moment of joy. But usually its a cycle of depression, isolation, and anger.

Given how much I have really increased my utter contempt and anger at being stuck in a country like Pakistan which is increasingly close to complete self-implosion for 2.5 years now with still no easy way out, it is pissing me off more and more and I feel it is having a slow yet devastating affect on my mind.

Guess we are all part of shit here and there

Pakistan Zindabad? ya Pakistan sey Zinda bhaag?

Long Live Pakistan? Or run with your lives from Pakistan?

    Hey atheist.pk!

Yep, you haven't been around for a while unfortunately. Welcome back.

You are stuck in Pakistan? Have you tried moving back to the UK?

Mate I've tried very hard to go back, but the UK Govt has ceased and stopped people like me from applying for a work permit! I was THIS close to finishing my application and applying for a Tier 1 - General Highly Skilled Migrant work visa but just when I was about to submit via a lawyer, the UK govt discontinued it.

whenever recession happens, immigration gets culled.

i do have a PhD offer still at Manchester, but no financial aid or scholarships being offered (and I have tried to get one) and paying 20-25k quid a year is too much for me!

You could join the French Foreign Legion and after 5 years service you get French citizenship and a shiny new EU passport. Smiley

Cheesy The fact that I am an overweight lazy depressed ass, the FL's training will really make me go insane and crack!  wacko

if i was a mentally tough hard bastard, I would have been happy to go to the Legion (but I dont think there is an office branch in Pakistan! Tongue)

that being said, France has become way too reactionary and paranoid for my taste!  lipsrsealed

    Well...

    1. You could get in shape first.

    2. Might make you into a mentally tough hard bastard.

    3. You have to go to a recruiting center in France, but you can do that on a tourist visa.

    4. You don't have to settle in France permanently. Once you have your French passport, there will be opportunities to work and settle elsewhere in the EU/EEC. UK would be easy if you'd be willing to do a 3 year military enlistment there after FFL service.

ACTUALLY ATHEIST.PK, I just realized that you live in a British Commonwealth country and thus could enlist in the British military directly, which would make immigration to the UK a whole lot easier.

While this is possible, it would probably take some doing. Pakistan isn't exactly Fiji..

Then again, the recruiters probably know better.
