  • Why are you so afraid of women?

Why are you so afraid of women?

    http://maryamnamazie.blogspot.com/2011/07/why-are-you-so-afraid-of-women.html

The despicable Fars News Agency has printed yet another misogynist cartoon against unveiled women. This is part and parcel of the pressures exerted on women and girls in Iran day in and day out. Anti-woman propaganda, coupled with threats, arrests, fines and brute force by the Hezbollah herds of the Islamic regime of Iran are the order of the day. Even though veiling is compulsory in Iran, 'improper' veiling and the removal of the veil are widely used forms of protest.

And every day the regime issues new directives to push women back into the private sphere. (What wishful thinking!) Recently the regime announced that women could no longer enter tea and coffee rooms. Here's a sign posted at one such place:

Sign telling women they cannot enter tea and coffee rooms

No matter how much the regime tries to push back the unfolding revolution in Iran, which is very much a female-led one, it just can't manage to do so. This movement is bringing the regime to its knees. In this wonderful song of Algerian women's protest against Sharia, they ask: Judge, Why are you afraid of me? The resistance of women in Iran and elsewhere shows exactly why the regime and Islamism are afraid of women... And the pro-Islamists have the nerve to say the veil and Sharia law is 'our' culture!

Women, words are no longer enough
We must cross the river because justice is discredited when the scales are weighted.
Oh people of Algeria, the truth is hidden
Women let me tell you of 20 years of madness.
In the congress of deceit of the year 1984
They got together and voted a law of oppression.
They stole women’s rights and parted; their minds at rest
They did as they pleased and took us for fools
What came over you judge, why are you afraid of me?
I weather all the storms, my words contain no venom.
Our marriage is decided by men.
We are forbidden to work and doors are closed to us.
With the family code, our wings are clipped.
We aren't asking for any favours; history speaks for us.
We are not asking for charity, we are entitled to justice.
What came over you judge, why are you afraid of me?
I weather all the storms, my words contain no venom.
Our voices rise today, for here a woman has no rights.
I’m telling you the story of what the powerful have done.
Of rules, a code of despair, a code obsessed with women.
Women come out of the dark; out of 20 years of trouble.
I brought up my children, they are now adults.
With one word, he repudiated me and sent me from the house.
Everything concerning my children is in the hand of the traitor.
My opinion is not taken into account, plus the pain and torment.
Judge, stop pursuing an unfounded fear.
Write that I want to experience my dignity now.
    Family code committing the unspeakable.
Guardians pull the strings behind the weddings of the gazelle.
Oh my sister always under age
    You’re called to order
Listen to this song, its tune will never change.
May the word spread, this law must be undone.
    And never done again.
To those listening to this story, this situation can no longer be endured.
    Today, as yesterday, it’s impossible.
Men, one hand cannot applaud; with you, the sun shines again and forever.
What came over you judge, why are you afraid of me?
I weather all the storms, my words contain no venom.

    Love the poem.

I think I even read somewhere that they were, or have, implemented segregated streets for walking on to.

Either way it is true, why fear what is supposed to be stupid?

Why fear what is supposed to be weak?

Why fear nothing but a woman, who is worth so much less than a man?

Of course not, but it can't be denied that it is simply part of the patriachal cycle that continues to get played out.

Were slaves given power not more brutal at times than those who owned them?

Some people who have been denied power one way, tend to seek it in others, this is why abuse leads on to abuse, and those who were battered go on to become those who dish it out.

Not only that but these systems which deny women the most basic of rights are designed in a way that creates competition, defence mechanisms to protect ones own reputation by looking down on others, and even being shown to be just as disgusted with that behaviour, even when internal views conflict.

The amount of grief I got for defending sex before marriage, or jews, or non muslims, I didn't mind because I can express my views in this country.  I have ways out of bad situations.  But the price was that I was an outcast and I did gain a reputation, and I was called jew lover.  How much worse would my social isolation have been if I was not living here?

I think the same way the echoes of what women who hold down their own daughter for FGM, have been taught and raised to believe themselves continues to resound throughout their future actions.

I mean when I think about it, I am amazed that I did not hesitate to have my son circumcised because that is what some false delusion told me to do.  I mutilated my son in the name of religion with no thought.  He cried, it was painful, but it was what was done.  Now, I look back on that moment and I am disgusted that I allowed it, or didn't even question it.

I did what was always done, just as these women do.  No thought, just a robot assimilated into the system.

Women are not angels by far, but so much that they do to each other stems from the patriachy they have been forced to live by, socially conditioned by, and ultimately embraced by.

Lol no, that was just what my ex bastard and his family called me for being disgusted when they would cheer suicide bombers and new deaths.

My arguement was only ever that NO death is a good death under those circumstances, but hey, I was just a jew lover lol curse of being half kaffir by blood.   wacko

Because I fear their vaginas, as representing scary natural forces that are beyond my ability to transcend.
