  • This Ramadan... :/
     OP - July 23, 2011, 03:04 AM

Well, well, well. Ramadan is on its way. Damn. I don't want to starve myself.. Ugh. Especially when it's all gonna go to waste, since I don't really believe anymore. Oh, let's not forget that it's summer and it'll be very exhausting with no food or water :S I was intending not to fast, but well, nah. My parents will suspect something, and it won't be very nice. Because I used to fast every Ramadan.
So who's gonna be forced to fast like me this Ramadan?
Haha. Mom told me and my sister that we should at least read the Qur'an during this Ramadan, and at least practice the prayer.. Hahahahahaha! I don't want to fast, how would you want me to read the Qur'an and pray?! O.o It was a very awkward moment when she said that. I didn't know what to say, lol. Very awkward. OH. And Eid is coming afterwards :/ Last eid was a schoolday, and I attended school ( I didn't have better things to do ) while most of my Muslim classmates took it as a day off.
The good thing about eid is you get MONEY (or gifts) 8D Hahaha! That's the best part. Other than that, it sucks.
Who's looking forward to this eid? Not me. :/
I was wondering, isn't there a special day for those who don't really believe in any religion? Maybe I can celebrate it on my own since I don't have any close friends to celebrate it with. 8D

Lately my mum has gone  all religious on my ass but she has never forced me to pray/fast . But just leave the house to eat, or sneak food into ur room . And u have an additional 5-7 days of no fasting because of that time on the month Cheesy

Oh, actually in truth I had a two weeks off of fasting during Ramadan a few times,  when it happens its the first week of Ramadan then the last week.. must admit then I hated it when that happened because I didn't want to make up so many days of fasting....   what used to break me is the Shawal fasting after Ramadan...

Me: 'yeah i still cant fast mum'

    Mum: 'STILL!?'

    ME: 'yeah *shrugs*'

Mum: 'you should make sure you make up for these days'

    Me: 'hmmm'

Unfortunately according to Islamic regulation one can stop fasting/ praying for 10 days only, if the bleeding continue, one is supposed to do the fast/praying as that bleeding is not considered from the womb... I always wondered about that?? But no medical grounds lol

oh the exception for bleeding 10 days period is if one just had a babay, then its different.  think its 40 days allowance.

18 hours of no food or water (is that even healthy, wont you be malnourished) how exciting. Eid is even more boring. all you do is pray and eat. But the only good thing about ramadan is that my mom makes special food she normally wouldn't make during the year. dance

Nearly everywhere there are places where you can drink unnoticed (public or private toilet rooms). You may rinse your ass with water during Ramadan, so why not drink it? Also, you may buy some sandwiches and eat them sitting on the toilet. No problem I think.

Nope not really. I got a present once and it was Pokemon or Yu Gi Oh cards. After that we never got anything.

My kids used to love Eid because they got money in pretty little green packages decorated with Arabic writing and swirls and patterns. I think these are a tradition borrowed from the Chinese "ang pau" or red package which is given out to family and friends at Chinese new year and special occasions. It was also customary for the kids to go door to door in the neighbourhood, have a quick drink and then hopefully get a few coins on the way out.  Afro

Best of all for them though was playing with fireworks in the street at night - sparklers and these little banger things that you could throw on the road and they would explode.

Also fun was getting a new set of traditional clothes and prancing around in those. grin12

Is it free to fasten or not?Huh?? or is it obligatory??
    I thought Islam is tolerance?!
I cannot understand your problems. I have been told from different muslims that it is free in Islam to practice the
    religion and absolutely voluntary.
Where is my fault in thinking???

Yes, Islam is tolerance, but only if you refrain from everything forbidden (haram) and do everything that is obligatory (halal).

Those people are not Muslims. They are to be regarded as kaffirs, probably by the influence of Shaytan, and they should be killed at once.

Excuse me for being so naiv, I would like to know how normal nonbelievers in an normal islamic country
(for example Turkey or Tunisia or Marocco) behave during Ramadan in Summer (40°C) when they are thirsty??
I am not talking about the devout believers, no, I mean the nonbelievers?
I cannot imagine that 100 % of the population consists of believers.

I regard myself as well as a member of the "Church of Flying Spaghetti Monsters". So I would call
you my brother, if you allow.

I regard that "Bobby Henderson" (the religion founder of our religion) as the greates Prophet that had ever
    been living.

I am really looking forward to your explanation.

    With best regards!
