  • Still in doubt
     OP - August 21, 2011, 03:32 PM

    Hello all,

I am a Pakistani born in Saudi Arabia. I was born in religious family. I practiced Islam well and being born in Saudi I was extra well lol Smiley.
When I was 18 I started having doubts but then I took doubts as whisppers from satan. I kept on with the faith. Then went to study in university in Cyprus. Occasionally I practiced there. After studies I came back to Saudi and worked there for 5 years. During these year I tried to get back to faith and it wasnt working.

I think I should say I got lucky and got work in the UK as I wanted to come here and explore more about the secular society. Now year and half passed and I am in doubt more than before. Not really sure what to do as yet but any advices and the stories of becoming a ex muslim will help.

    Thanks all.

signwelcome and  Greetings developer! And, of course, your  parrot
You have every right to be in doubt. Every apostate sterted like that. You shouldn't have come to the West  Cheesy because you are now infected with free thought. Sorry for you, but you will keep these doubts for the rest of your life, or untill you leave Islam as it was taught to you. Have a good time here!

For me life is still the same without any religious duties, I still go work, I have a family, and I try not to offend anyone that is religious in my family.
They accept that I am not religious but the cling on to the hope that I will return to praying and fasting etc  Cheesy

It all depends on your circumstance.
If you live Saudi Arabia, then I imagine it's difficult and dangerous. If you live in the West (and are financially and otherwise independent), it's just dandy.

    Hey dude,

I personally began to have doubts whilst earnestly trying to learn more about Islam. The doubts increased and led to my eventual apostasy after watching many youtube vids critical of Islam/religion, and reading apostasy testimonials on wikiIslam.

But also in hindsight many of my beliefs in the validity of Islam was undermined indirectly through my persistent interest in psychology, spirituality and holistic healing.

Here are the testimonials I mentioned...

    http://wikiislam.net/wiki/People_Who_Left_Islam#All_Testimonies

    The youtube channels I personally recommend - in no particular order - are;

    Cembadmins

Theramintrees (check out the video; religion - the bad parent)

Therationalizer (The scientific miracles of the Quran debunked)

Evid3nc3 (incredible presentation of his deconversion for christanity, that helped me greatly to understand my own deconversion process)

Phillhellenes (check out the vids; science saved my soul, and why didn't anybody tell me)

    Take your time man.

Hey developer and welcome Smiley I'm a Saudi here! Hope you didn't get beaten by the racists there, especially the police! Life as an ex-Muslim depends on what you do, where you it, and what kind of people are around you. Some of us have to pretend to be a Muslim because it's dangerous, others don't want to break their families' and friend's hearts, so life can be uncomfortable when pretending to be a Muslim. Some of us came out to our families and friends and did absolutely fine, others got harsh results, some harsher than others.

Hope you enjoy this site. And since you say you're a doubting Muslim, can you tell us what makes you still cling on to it? What parts of Islam still makes you believe it is the true religion of God?

A warm welcome, developer!  Enjoy the forum, and the freedom
to express yourself.  I liken leaving islam kind of like going thru
the five stages of grief when someone dies.  I was both liberating
for me, and also very sad that I no longer could hang onto a god
