Indeed! They are becoming popular very fast. Even heard them played in a rock club in my area.

Well they are kind of a parody, aren't they?

I particularly like the song that goes

    "My heart belongs to you
my love is pure and true
but my cock is community property"

He's no friend to the friendless
And he's the mother of grief
    There's only sorrow for tomorrow

Yup. This song is awesome too, love the intro.

Moonsorrow are godly! I particularly love their V (havitetty) album, whatever it’s called. Two tracks, but phenomenal. And yes, though they’re NSBM, I love Nokturnal Mortum for that sort of music too.

Massive metal fan here. I don't like Iron Maiden or Judas Priest, or any glam (tranny) metal, so yeah might as well get that out of the way. I can't stand Iron Maiden's twin guitar playing nor the operatic vocals. Don't even get me started on their album covers... I'm sure there are loads of IM fans here.

I'm more into the slower sludgier, dirtier doom metal. Or great progressive music, but not OTT progressive like Dream Theater who play what many people like to call progressive wankery.

So anyone into bands like Mastodon or Opeth? How about Eyehategod or The Melvins? These are a few of my favourite bands...  Metallica get played a few times, thanks to Cliff Burton's genius. He WAS Metallica. Not really into Megadeth in all honesty, although Rust in Peace is a great album. Slayer have sound the same throughout their whole career, and not in the good way, as in how Eyehategod have sounded the same throughout their discography. I'm guessing I'm not gonna be making a lot of friends here, what with me not taking a liking to some of the most highly esteemed bands.

Time to regain some credibility by announcing my love for Black Sabbath. Introduced us to metal, and to this day some of their riffs haven't met a match yet, imo.

Are you seriously saying South of Heaven sounded like Slayer’s other works?

Hmm I think you're going to have to explain to me how do Bruce Dickinson's or Paul DiAnno's voices qualify as "operatic". I'm a bit lost.

Those aren't by any stretch "doom metal" bands, though.

Kudos on acknowledging Sabbath as the greatest band ever, though. At least you got that right  grin12

If you read my post, I also said I love good progressive metal. Also, The Melvins and Mastodon (early work) is some very good sludge (which I adore)

Oh and in the world of metal, where vocalists spend most of the time shrieking or shouting, Brucie's vocal are operatic in comparison. DO NOT LIKE.

I do love Paul's voice though, isn't it ironic? lol.

And Kodanshi, I love South of Heaven. One of a handful of Slayer songs that I can listen to. It's not as good as Seasons of the Abyss, which is their career highlight, but nonetheless two memorable riffs in South of Heaven.

Album must be listened to in its entirety. Darker than most metal records and totally and utterly immersive

Album must be listened to in its entirety if you're feeling particularly masochistic.

    Some good songs.

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'
