    I wish I could drink water.

    I don't drink any water. 

    Maybe once in a blue moon I will feel thirsty for water, but I hate the taste, the way it feels inside my stomach.

    Usually drinking water makes me throw up.  :/

    And I know I should, its like the one thing that everyone always tells me.  But I haven't drunk water since I was a child unless its a blue moon.

    I have tried water with a hint of something, that tastes nice and doesn't make me feel sick, but psychologically I come up against my own barrier for water since I have used it as a means of purging.

    Just the thought of drinking a glass of water right now makes me feel queazy.

    Man oh man, I hate my brain.

    A few points Abood:
    1.   Fruit are no good for me, I gain on them and they bloat me.
    2.   As for drinks, actually caloric drinks are better than diet drinks, I also gain if I have diet drinks, so I stick to water and green tea, sometimes milk (coconut or soya)  those are believe it or not better for me than diet drinks :(   I wish it wasn’t the case but dunno why it works like this with me, my body doesn’t like artificial sweeteners
    3.   Eat little and often also doesn’t work with me, I end up craving all day long,  I tried it many times, what works is having one big meal then forgetting about food for 6 to 12 hours (i.e. intermittent fasting lol but I am allowed to drink unlike Islamic fasting)


    Ella, what about fizzy water?  Add a squeeze of lime /lemon or even berries.

    Nah, I don't drink fizzy drinks mostly.  In alcohol yes, but they don't quench my thirst at all.

    Sadly I am still addicted to tea.  That is what I drink, nothing else.  Maybe coffee, and of course alcohol sometimes.

    I am trying....well failing mostly, to turn that around, but still I give into the call of a hot drink. Grin

    I am seriously about as unhealthy as you can get.

    I have extremely low blood pressure, I'm tired all the time, physically I find everything a struggle, I'm sure I'm shrinking too but its a lifetime for insane dieting that led me here, where I need therapy to break my myths about food.

    Anyway.  This must change.

    I am addicted to green tea as well, but drink lots of water, still and fizzy.

    I need to break the sugar habit though, this is really bad, I used to be really good, but in the last few months its been worse, and I have no motivation.
    Today is another day, so far I started right, hope it ends right too.

    Oh yea, sugar is the only thing I have that could possibly give me any energy since I have so many issues with food.  Grin

    Anyway these few insane posts from me about my eating have motivated me to try again to reduce my sugar dependency today and to test another of the healthy food recipes I have.

    But not to drink water.  I know I couldn't face that shit today.  :(

    - You gain weight from fruits? Never heard of that before. Are you sure it's the fruits? And what fruits were you eating? Some fruits are healthier than others.

    - I'm not talking about diet drinks. I never drink soda at home, and rarely when I'm out. I usually buy fruit juice (the real kind, not the sugary water kind) and chocolate milk. And green tea is actually really healthy and is calorie free, unless you add sugar of course. And I tend to go for regular coffees instead of mixed latte crap, and I take it black with no sugar. Not only is it healthier, but I love the taste of real coffee.

    - When I eat often I make sure I'm full, just not stuffed. I'm not talking about small snacks five times a day, I usually eat two/three meals with snacks in between. But my meal portions have decreased in size drastically.

    Fara7, totally agree with you about being on your feet and moving all day long, the weight just drops off and you end up feeling so good and sleeping so well at night too. Exactly the same happened to me while we were on holiday at Easter. My life at home is far to sedentary and going to the gym a couple of times a week is no substitute for being active and moving all the time. I just don't have enough self-motivation to keep myself on the go all the time though.

    I have never tried cutting down on the carbs and eating more meats and fats because I'm not a big meat eater and I love my carbs. I figure that trying to eat the 'brown' carbs is the best idea for me. Quinoa is nice and I've also managed to find wholewheat couscous and some buckwheat stuff that is good (can't remember what it is called). Also I make my own museli with all kinds of flakes (rye,oats, barley) and chopped up fruits and nuts. Only problem is ,by the time I have bought all the ingredients I usually end up with a huge quantity so I share it with my mum.

    I drink 4 cups of tea a day, not much coffee and loads of water when I remember to. I try and do most of my water drinking in the morning or early afternoon otherwise I find I am up and down to the loo all night Cheesy

    Berbs, you are like my mum and one of my sons, they drink hardly any water, its a real struggle for them too just because they don't like it.

    Abood as I said all the above doesn't work for me, I know its against conventional wisdom, but that's the way it is, one theory is that I maybe insulin resistant, hence any sugar including fruit sugar makes me gain.


    On another note, what do you guys think about me buying a treadmill at home??  Anyone got a good one to recommend?

    We,ve got a cross trainer which honestly was a wasted impulse buy. It is just so deathly boring to go on it. That's one of the reasons I love exercise classes at the gym because they play fun music and the enthusiasm of the instructor helps carry you through what is potentially a very boring hour.

    I can't make it to exercise classes at the gym, I can have meetings and work load varies, so I can't predict when I will be able to or not, especially more classes one needs to book in advance.

    I have a couple of machines at home for toning and I use them often,  the one I don't use is the stationary bike.

    Personally, I don't think counting calories is good. It's more important what you eat ie. carbs, protein or fat.

    After years of starving myself, being on diets and doing other stupid things to become skinny, I gave up on the idea of being petite. So now I'm trying to rewire my brain to think that I might not be tiny but at least I will be toned and in good shape.
    No-carbs diet worked for me but it's an absolute nightmare the first month because I'm so dependent on sugar :/ But it works great especially if you hit the gym about 4 times a week which I've been trying to do. The thing is that you are not exactly going to lose weight on such diet but your body shape will change.

    I think a lot of us were brought here by google. Verily google guides whom it wills!

    I am a vegetarian so i ate fruits, yoghurt, snacks, um smaller portions of regular meals etc. if you eat little and often, you wont feel as full.  It's the way to go.


    how do you fit that around a regular job, I also do shift work so everything changes week to week.

    I calorie count everything, absolutely everything.

    But I have insane limitations for myself.

    Yesterday I ate 3 slices of toast, a very very small bowl of homemade chips and a packet of dates for the whole day.

    Because I ate the dates, which was high in calorie content, I refused to eat anything else.

    This is so ingrained in to me now that even fruit and salad is counted.  I am convinced that the food I ate yesterday made me fat because the dates took me over my severe calorie limitations.  :(

    I think its better not to get into the habit of calorie counting, but rather change your food habits without considering the calories.  You will lose weight if you cut out junk food, processed food, and snacking on chocolate bars and tubs of ice cream. 

    But don't calorie count because it can get stupid. 

    You know if I eat a packet of nuts I panic because nuts are high in calories.

    Imagine being so retarded that you eat toast for breakfast, 98 calories per slice, add some butter and spread and say 150 per slice, 2 = 300 for breakfast.  But because you are like me, you have a 500 calorie per day limit on a bad day, and you eat a packet of nuts that have about 400 calories in them, and then I will simple not eat at all until the next day because even though the nut packet wasn't even the size of a packet of crisps, I am still convinced that the high calorie content = fat.

    Apparantly I am wrong, but I'm not sure how.  I wanted to ask somebody yesterday but I was too embarrassed to be back here on 500 calories a day.

    But how can a packet of nuts that match a McD's in calorie content not be fattening? 

    So yeah, unless you are rational and able to understand calories, good ones, bad ones, fatty ones etc, I would steer clear before you start to see food through the eyes I do.

( I always loosen my belt when I go to a restaurant ) , I know you won't believe me but you are daym skinny !!!!! and if you gained weight it would probably do you alot more good (I'm an ass man) . Just concentrate on staying healthy my dear , I know its easier said than done .

    I have been trying to get back into healthy eating for a while now, I tried all kind of plans the only one that worked well with me in the past and I managed to maintain a weight within the lower end of my healthy weight range according to the BMI, this was when I followed a caveman diet, mainly meat and fat. 

    During my travel I lost a couple of Kilos because I was moving all day long, I also had one big meal at breakfast and that included Japanese type miso soup (no rice) and a Malaysian curry (no rice just the chicken in coconut curry sauce).  I was full the rest of the day, so didn’t bother with food, had some drinks though, like natural coconut water drink (out of a coconut shell, they sell those on the streets) and sometimes soya milk with gelatin in it (heh, these are popular drinks in the far east, gelatin has a lot of health benefits I hear)  Anyway, I was also moving and walking all day long.

    Since I got back I have been trying to do the same thing, have my big breakfast,  so I prepare a big meaty breakfast the night before (or  just dump chicken/joint in the slow cooker overnight) and try not to have anything major the rest of the day, I really do feel a lot more energised having a big breakfast.  My only problem now is that I am sitting at a desk all day, so I think I gained back some of the weight I lost.  I try to go to the gym, but its not enough, I must do more, like running etc.  I also made the mistake of buying some mennah& salwa desert, and haven’t been able to resist them now and again.  But really I must put them away or give them to someone else.

    I really want to start again to be healthy, I need a lot of motivation… should I make dua’ so that Allah helps me to be determined lol, this is what helped me in the past believe it or not.

    I personally don’t believe in calories too much, I think if one eats the right food they should equalise their weight to a healthy range,  not over weight and not underweight.



    Sounds awesome !!!! I realized when I lost alot of weight I had a stable social life I was out of the house all of the time that changed , I realized I'm moving out for uni so does this mean I should cut out all of the alcohol :( I need to partayyyy and bullshit !

    by anyone do any fun exercises ?? I hate the gym it made me depressed for a while :( , actually I'll try and join sports societies at uni but don't know why I lack commitment , doing this all to be skinny doesn't seem worth while although I have always wanted a hot bod

    How do you not drink water?! That's no good.
    I guess you're not in the heat like me where you naturally would want and need it... But... still not healthy... you want your urine to be clear.
    Have you tried waiting until after you finish eating and THEN drinking (anything)? That way, you don't feel full.
    People who sip on coke or any drink (including water) while they're eating (in between bites) end up feeling fuller, plus it's not as healthy as waiting to finish all your food first, then drinking. I got into this habit years ago and haven't been able to break it since.  Afro

    I think it's all about food.

    I don't exercise.  Cheesy But I actually might start...RUNNING soon only because i feel like im getting so fat.  Roll Eyes No way in hell I want to go to a gym though.

    Plus it makes you feel better after you're done. You get that same nice feeling after an orgasm. But then I think i can just get an orgasm.  Cheesy

    Just go for a 20/30 min jog 3 times a week.  dance
    Make sure to be safe though. on a trail you're comfortable with or go with a friend.  Smiley

    ChinaDoll, is there any cardiovascular exercise machine in the gum that you can spend 20-30mins on without getting too depressed?  Also, does music while exercising get you motivated?

    Exercise classes are the least boring for me because music and the instructor help the time pass faster and less painfully. The worst part is actually getting motivated to go to the class and recovering afterwards lol.

    Body combat classes a lot of fun but I only did it once because it was too bouncy for me.
    My favourites are body pump and good old fashioned LBTs.
    Zumba is good too ,but you need a fair degree of coordination. I used to like spinning classes on the bikes, but too strenuous for me now .... I end up feeling sick.
