Philosophy is dead!
well depends on what philosophy is
each philosopher would give you a different answer as to what philosophy does or is
Hegel in his dialectics said that history has come to its end (for Hegal the world existed only in his head
)
Heidegger said philosophy has come to its end
for Wittgenstein philosophy was the study of language
[Philosophical problems] are, of course, not empirical problems; but they are solved through an insight into the workings of our language, and that in such a way that these workings are recognized -- despite an urge to misunderstand them. The problems are solved, not through the contribution of new knowledge, rather through the arrangement of things long familiar. Philosophy is a struggle against the bewitchment (Verhexung) of our understanding by the resources of our language. [Ludwig Wittgenstein, "Philosophical Investigations," 1953]
the etymology is the old Greek words "filo"+"sophia" which is "love of wisdom".
i like to think of philosophy as thinking made wonderful
i like the Plato dialogues (Socratic debate) , so simple with no complicated system or jargon yet there is so much to be found in it
but most philosophers are a pain in the ass, i cant stand reading philosophy its a headache
btw philosophy of science is stil on the rise
