Not too sure how popular but I know that my brothers future wife is also into him, along with Muse, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The Smiths etc.

I first heard of him around 8 years ago when I was in Australia - I accidentally tripped over a The Smiths album (Louder Than Bombs) and it has been an interest since then Smiley

My favourite Morrissey song is, I have forgiven Jesus Smiley

    Morrisey is agnostic/atheist?

My problem with him is his militant vegan BS. I quite like his music otherwise, and his persona for that matter.

Not Bengali in platforms then Wink  There are so many good songs, including the instrumentals, that naming a favourite would be doing an injustice to others.  Why do you think he never accepted publically to being gay?  He says he feels lost and doesnt like either sex, what do you think the story is there?

From what I understand, I always thought he was vegetarian and not vegan. According to an interview his reply to the question was, "I'm trying but I'm failing".

If he did come out of the closet the problem he would face isn't necessarily the issue of intolerance but being typed cast as the 'gay singer', narrowing his audience and worse - what happened to the Pet Shop Boys when after both came out every song was analysed with a fine tooth comb for any homoerotic lyrics that may have existed. It is the same reason if I was a singer I'd never want to publicise my sexuality - becoming a 'gay singer' instead of just 'a singer'.

As for sex, I pretty much am not a person who will go out and try to 'get laid' given that I'd prefer to have a relationship. Given that most of the guys I have met have been proper dickheads I've pretty much fallen into the category of simply not being bothered with sex - it just isn't worth the hassle.

Yes, I think you're right, although with his style of music and fanbase,  I dont think it would make that much of a difference.  Dont like his new music unfortunately..

True, his music is an acquired taste Smiley

Although I think the best solo album so far has been 'Ringerleader of the tormentors" Smiley

BD I thought you didn't have a guitar?

I don't but that doesn't mean my instrument won't play a sweet tune if handled right.

Yeah, the first was actually one of my fave rock albums of all time. Its on permanent rotation in my car, my ex got so sick of it that she took it out and hid it somewhere. Bitch.

But anyways, I'm a big SoundGarden and AudioSlave person so the new shit he did with Timbaland pissed me off royally. Didn't touch it. The solo stuff he did after SG was pretty nice. The only recent solo stuff I liked was this song:

And did you hear SoundGarden is having a reunion??  dance

Del Shannon, "Runaway". This is from David Letterman 1986. He's not lookin too bad for a 51 year old raging alcoholic just 4 years away from blowing his brains out with a rifle.

In 1986 he also rerecorded a version of the song with different lyrics for the theme song of the TV show "Crime Story" (which was an awesome show, ahead of its time)

This song is based on the final chapter of James Joyce's 'Ulysses' - Molly Bloom's soliloquy about her life and love

Yeah, that's pretty much my favorite Bruce song. It's just a song about your girlfriend getting bored with you and turning into a total bitch but he sings it with such conviction, passion, and dare I say, sexiness, that it's just fuckin awesome.

My favorite album though, is Nebraska. I normally don't go for the folky singer-songwriter shit, but that album is absolutely perfect. Can't find a single fault with it other than it being utterly depressing. He's a brilliant performer and songwriter, one of my all-time favorites.

Here's a song he wrote, but was made famous by Patti Smith, with an alteration of the original lyrics.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xACZHv-sLCg&

Patti Smith's version was the best, but Springsteen's ain't too shabby. We won't even discuss the lame 10,000 maniacs version.

A brilliant song complementing an equally brilliant intro to Watchmen.
