     OP - December 20, 2011, 07:26 PM

So I was watching re-run of Ugly Betty. And her nephew decided to wear not only designer clothes to first day of school, but one of the most expensive designer Gucci.
Seriously, what was he thinking? Why didn't his family members told him that it was the worst idea ever? He could have been dangerously hurt in worst case, killed by bullies.

Moham, if you are a gay kid, and wear expensive designer clothes, specially if the color is red or pink with white belt, and your school has majority of homophobe kids, its very easy that you will be beaten up to death by other under age kids, who because of technicality of their age won't get punished.

A T shirt costs 400 dollars? Are you for real Muddy??? WTF, now that is why I buy nearly all my cloths from H&M, it's not that expensive and they don't look that bad. I once got a Ralph Polo (I think it's called) jumper as a present and that cost my sister like 100 pounds. I gave it away after wearing it like twice.

I also mostly wear branded shirts, but I won't spend more than $40 on a shirt. Usually get it from outlet. Armani and Gucci are the topmost brands, and pricing for their clothes has no limit. It can go in thousands of dollars.

Chavs wear gucci, as do hoodrats.

My phase of designer clothes was between 17-21.  I had the money to waste (yay for the hustles) back then and I was into the fashion of the time.

I was a hoodrat too though.

Now even when I have the money to burn, which isn't often, I don't want the designer clothes because I couldn't think of anything more worthless to waste my money on.

But I'm guessing that if I had money MONEY and designer became super cheap to me, then I would probably be straight back to shopping in Knightsbridge like a nutter.

I dunno about USA, but in New Zealand, each High school have their own uniform and you have to wear it. so everyone will be more equal and not be discriminated.

In USA you can wear whatever you want at school ?

Same as in the UK, until you get to 6th form 16-18, in which case most schools no longer enforce a uniform.

I was soooooo happy when my secondary school introduced a uniform.  Meant I didn't have to beat up  people as often for taking the piss out of the lame ass clothes my parents would send me to school in.

I had to wear a uniform at 6th form, I went to a private school so I had no choice.

    Oh.

Well the private school up the road from me has no uniform for the 6th form, so I guess it's not private vs public education, just school vs school.

I went to private school where my mother used to teach. (for free off course) And since she couldn't afford most of the stuff, she would actually make my uniform at home, including the school logo. Since it was hand made, it would never match the mass produced one. Quiet a humiliation most of the time.

Anyways, lets get back to designer brand discussion.
Berbs, I think single people do need designer clothes, unless they are extremely hot (or straight guys off course).

Most of the students I knew whilst at uni shopped at Primark and other cheap places. Don't know how they'd afford anything else unless they had a part-time job. I always go for affordable places, including charity shops which have some pretty cool stuff in every now and then.

Don't see the point in designer. Needlessly expensive, pointless and chavvy.

I was a criminal in my designer days.  I could afford it and yea, I was chavvy.   Cheesy

Now I love charity shops, love getting a bargain, love cheap and cheerful.

I hate markets though.  That shit is shiiiiiiiiiiiiit.

The most expensive thing I own are my diesel jeans and thigh high boots.  And believe me, I warred with myself for spending that money.

and the only reason I gave myself permission to buy the diesels was because they made my ass look better than all the other jeans I tried on that day.

My school had a long history of wearing a uniform, I didn't mind it I actually don't usually care what I wear anyway alsong as it keeps me warm and fits (sometimes I'll wear something a few sizes to big as it was on sale when I saw it).

Muddy single people don't need designer cloths!!! I haven't got no money for them, I spend my money on cigars and books. My sister buys me designer cloths for my birthdays (she knows I hate them) so and I usually give em' away.

Yea, I went overboard with that. My point is 100% same in support of Israel's support, but Arab bashing was bad and totally uncalled for. I apologize to everyone whose feelings got hurt (but do not apologize for anyone's feelings being hurt for my Israel's support)

I find good quality stuff worth it, I do buy my formal work clothes from outlets, the good quality material used does flatter my figure, beside one good quality classic style dress or jacket/suit would last years and still look in fashion.
