    I was going to see Mika Vainio from Pan Sonic in London earlier on this year. Unfortunately the gig finished at 12 AM so I opted to see LFO at a club instead. Can't say I was disappointed... But, you know.

    Things would be so much easier if I could crash at my parents place, but that would mean sobriety on nights out.

    I crashed at the house of a stranger I met that night! Him and his girlfriend's place. And she made me camomile tea in the morning to counteract the ill effects of excessive alcohol consumption. It must have been fresh because I bought some bags when I returned home and they didn’t taste as lovely.

    Late last year I went to see Shackleton at Plastic People for an FWD night with Horsepower productions supporting. Anyhow, I rationalised that the first train back to Surrey would be at 5:05 so I could get a quick taxi to WLoo at 2 AM, wait for 2.5 hours, and then return home.

    Surprise surprise, WLoo was boarded up (i use the expression metaphorically).

    So anyhow, one of the people I met from the night offered to find a travel lodge. We returned to the venue, got in her car, and found said lodge by 3:30 AM. I felt terrible for her as she had work the next day (some things are best left unasked, aren't they?). Although she was related to the promoters of the lost nights (who generally get Jeff Mills down to London) so we had a good natter about techno,  and she offered me guest list to a night, or two! Need to repay the favour by purchasing her a drink, but sadly I don't go to many traditional techno nights anymore, as I need to save money and am bogged down with university work.

    Experimental (hardcore) techno from 93 or 94, I can't remember exactly.

    Soft Machine — Slightly all the time.

    A uniquely british jazz sound, imho.

    Bongripper - Reefer Sutherland

    I hardily dislike the docile intoxication of cannabis but if it is conducive to post-metal epics like this I won't complain.

    Such an underappreciated AFX track, that one.

    one of my favourites is Hankie — one of the more unsettling pieces on SAW II.

    DnB was never the same after they stopped making music. Had the distinct pleasure of hearing them play at an oldskool jungle night earlier on this year — and will experience that perverse jouissance at another night in October, hopefully.

    Yes, The Brothers Karamazov. My favourite — though sometimes I think The Idiot is my fave. Or Notes from Underground.

    Great taste in music, by the way. That Einstürzende Neubaten song has always freaked me out. Still sounds creepy to this day!
