Women priests and bishops cause a slight ruffling of feathers in xianworld.  What about in Islam? Baroness Warsi?

I think what I find most funny about your threads, is the fact that you phrase it as if you are really asking a question, when in actual fact you already know the answer.

Be such a surprise to click one of your threads and find you actually flat out saying what it is you are trying to say without phrasing it like a retards question.

But that is what rhetorical questions are!  Is Baroness Warsi an iman?  Why not?

it is only a very poor copying of the socratic method!

And actually I do not know the answer.  Are there any women imans anywhere?  Is anyone asking for that?

In Judaism, there is a clear continuum of attitude: atheist, liberal, reform, orthodox.  There are very famous women rabbis - Julia Neuberger.  Xianity has a similar continuum, but still very biased towards males - there is an Anglican woman Bishop -

I don't know about Hinduism, Sikhism, Taoism, Buddhism and Islam.

There can never be a female imam in a traditional Islam,in fact a female cannot even lead a congregation prayer, its either she joins the male-led congregation prayer and stay behind men or she does a solo(which is more preferable).

Thank you - but that article starts with a Danger Will Robinson flag!

    Quote
Modern Islamic scholars such as Dr. Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, based on the Umm Waraqah hadith mentioned above, consider it permissible for a knowledgeable woman to lead mixed prayers within her own household,[8] as he considers this to largely obviate the danger of the men being aroused by her presence.

I note Britain has basically done nothing in comparison with Canada, or Turkey.

Is there an issue about where Muslims come from, so that Britain actually has a set of Muslims who are - how may I put this politely - not as enlightened as others?

Another rhetorical question cest moi?  Grin

Come on now.  For anyone with as many posts as you, with as much interest on the subject as you do, would already know that Saudi funds islamic education for muslim's in the UK.

Letting women pray alongside men in the house of worship would be a good first step.

This is true, but in all reality this is what is slowly happening in some Muslim countries.  Morocco for one has female imams, who may not be allowed to lead the prayer but have been given a better status................in spite of the fact that it doesn't truely adhere to Islamic principles to do so..........unless of course you do a lot of rule bending and special interpretation.

But if my understanding or religious changes is anything to go by, isn't this the progress of former, equally as sexually discriminatory as islam, religions?

A woman may not speak out in church..............well that has changed.

What we see now is a slow change for Islam too.

Or at least that is my optimistic viewpoint today.

Tomorrow, well tomorrow I could be hating on Islam again.  Grin

I know you for so long  what is there correct you BerberElla??   I would say you should open a Mosque and preach in it to all those who don't have burkhas on skin and burkha on brain.,  include every one  ex-Muslims, Apostates  and any one who are not fit to join any religion..

It would be really interesting to see in your mosque/church/temple ..whatever...  all Praying in a large room without any clothes and Cameras  focused on every one's face to make sure they are all praying unlike this guy

But seriously I would strongly support women preachers in mosques

I assume this is the reality?

    http://amar-akbar-anthony.blogspot.co.uk/2007/07/on-left-is-main-entrance-for-men.html

Actually, the local mosque only seems to have one entrance and I don't remember seeing women near it.  Are there male only mosques?

Yes, but they're not so much mosques as cottages filled with brown people.

    Hope this helps.
