I Really Hate Nouman Ali Khan!!!

@allat and billy: please move this post to a topic that is suitable.

THIS IS GOING TO BE A RANT!!!

After reading that harakat had died, I was really pissed. I thought I could just get in touch with Islam because of my own fear of death. I thought I should give my religion another chance.

But now I am 100% I will never believe in Islam as a religion again. I watched a few videos of Nouman Ali Khan. In a couple of videos he thought it would be better for children not to watch disney cartoons. Cartoons like the fairly-odd parents, the proud family, jimmy neutron or any modern day disney cartoon. He thought that they corrupted the minds of children today, as opposed to when he was young watching tom and jerry.

In another video he justified apostasy. His argument was that this should only be done in an Islamic state. THAT DOESN'T MAKE IT ANY BETTER!!! It still makes the practise irrational. You cannot kill someone just because they were born Muslims and no longer believe in the same God as you do.

And in another one, he praised Dr. Israr Ahmed and dissed the Shia sect. Now don't get me wrong, the shias suck too. But I don't like it when a guy like Nouman can think so arrogantly to himself that he is better than a shia or a sufi or an ahmedi when they all suck. I hated Dr. Israr Ahmed for condoning what Zia-ul-haq did in Pakistan by introducing Shariah laws in the constitution of Pakistan.

He finally thought in another video that music was like audio pornography. I was like WHAT!!! How can this guy say that? Is the American national anthem "audio pornography"? Is any symphony you can imagine "audio pornography"?

How can this guy be this big of an idiot?

He has officially killed and made a K.O on any shred of faith I had in Islam. I hate this dude. I hate how he is poisoning the minds of other American Muslims and I can't really do anything to stop this dude.

For now, I will read Albert Camus to learn more about how to live life without believing in God. I will also try to read other books you guys kindly suggested to me.

I haven't really seen, read or heard much by this Nouman Ali Khan, but he seems of a piece with most religious prosletysers, in that he is a snake-oil salesman and a bigot.

How can an American born Muslim do something like this? I know this sounds racist, but if he doesn't like the lifestyle that people in America follow, why doesn't he just live in Pakistan or any other Islamic society?

This is probably one of the biggest reasons why I don't like religion and Christianity and Islam in particular. I hate how Christians and Muslims are not content of the fact that they believe in their respective religions and have to just spread their religion around. Why can't they just keep it to themselves instead of spreading the religion?

I don't hate Muslims. I have Muslim family members who I love dearly. But if anyone criticizes my way of life due to some irrational beliefs, I will confront them.

Yasir Qadhi, on a youtube video, even said that women shouldn't work. Their primary purpose is to raise the family. Who told you what women, especially Muslim women, can do Yasir Qadhi?

The worst part is that Nouman Ali Khan and Yasir Qadhi were both probably born and raised in the U.S, yet they seem ungrateful at all the privileges they get in a country like the U.S.

Nouman Ali Khan is definitely better than Hamza Andreas Tzortzis in terms of demeanor. However, he is equally as dishonest as Hamza. He vilifies corporations that he deems un-Islamic. Who gave these people the right to interpret the Qur'an and tell other people this is what it actually means?

So...yeah. It's his job, he studied to become a scholar (I'm pretty sure he studied Linguistics or something), now he's earning off of it.

@chepea: He is encourage exclusion from the larger non-Muslim society. He justifies apostasy which is an illogical idea.

@David: lol. It's seems like that now that I am an agnostic atheist I see these people differently. If you were to ask me two years ago about Dr. Zakir Naik, Yasir Qadhi, Nouman Ali Khan, Bilal Philips, I would have defended them from scrutiny. But now I see the light(as they say). These "scholars" are taking advantage of people. I hate that.

I thought you had a problem with his "right" to say things, which is why I said he was a scholar and had earned that right through study. You can disagree with his actual opinions, of course. Obviously he doesn't think death for apostasy in an Islamic state (which I suspect he would view more in the line of 'treason') is an illogical idea.

Yeah, being a scholar doesn't mean that you're 100% right all the time or that you're above criticism, it means you earned credentials. Just cuz some scholars are self-serving doesn't make them all bad. Same with any field of work. (IMO.)

@chepea: I don't like that these people get a pedestal in life just because they are perceived to be educated in Islamic studies. Even if they are, they cannot give people opinions that defy common sense. Don't tell me that logic and reason are haram.

A pedestal in life or just a pedestal in their field of work?

I don't particularly like how some people treat scholars as infallible beings, but then again, anybody can go become a scholar. I could if I had the inclination. It's not like it's beyond you or I to get that same respect.

And "perceived to be education in Islamic studies"? :/ What do you mean? Is someone with a medicine degree "perceived" to be educated in medicine?

Their opinions are their own, for instance a scholar might support (I dunno) the Palestinian cause or something, but that's different from doing ijtihad on stuff. And generally, I think you're supposed to seek consensus on an issue anyway.

@chepea: They don't seem to view their opinions as an opinion. I do mean a pedestal in life. Because people look up to these people as righteous Muslims when sometimes they can be dishonest in science and history.
