Agreed. Makalele was the bigger loss, because there is NO even near replacement for him. Sorry, but M'Villa is just not there yet.

Just chiming in to say that I hated Ronaldo before it was cool (i.e from the minute he started playing professionally).

Also, yesterday's game was the first I had managed to watch since the 13th, and it was so fucking boring! I downloaded Germany-Greece to watch this afternoon, to make up for it.

Go England. I hate both teams, but I'm predicting Germany would have slightly more trouble dealing with Italy in the semis  grin12

I can't see either England or Italy getting past Germany in the semi-final whoever gets through. But I think this should be a good, exciting game, both teams going for it, and two of my favourite players, Gerrard and Pirlo pulling the strings.

    Hey asbie:
Anyone who doesn't think that France is a very talented side, and that their performance at the last World Cup was a one off doesn't know jack shit about football.

Yeah both defences are solid that is the problem. At the same time, an early goal could really loosen and open things up as each team will have to go for it - and there are players that can potentially make it a crazy game - Balotelli, Rooney, Gerrard and Pirlo in particular!

I'll make a prediction though, I expect Italy to win - possibly on penalties, we haven#'t had a penalty shoot out yet, about time.

He didn't. He said the word "filho" which is Portuguese for son. This is just another case of the media creating drama out of nothing.

Wow, just from a footballing standpoint, I thought yesterday's game was great. Two skilled teams trying to play their game and competing and creating chances. Hmm... maybe it was because I had a dog in the fight.

And they ran into a Spain side in superb, nay immaculate form. I thought they played pretty damn well, that considered. No regrets as a France supporter about the way they played.  Afro

Good game this. Italy the better side but England still have the quality to win.

Extra time it is then, if England win this Italy only have themselves to blame they should have put it to bed they dominated that second half.

Pirlo is such a beautiful player.

Rooney doesn't look in best match condition.

Right now, tired legs, too close to call.

The right result. England were simply lucky in the second half after Italy were profligate in front of goal.

Expect Germany to deal with the Italians.

I'll say it again, Pirlo is such a class player.

I think we have two more years of this shit, before we turn to Redkapp. That's an awful long wait, with plenty of disappointment to bear during that period.
