  • What I think of many Western Muslims
     OP - July 01, 2012, 03:54 AM

Hi there, I'm a new member but anyways here is my opinion on Western Muslims.

Now in the West, Muslims have a load more Freedom then they do in the East etc. What this enables them to do is be free although many have religious parents who will tell them kids, don't get girlfriends etc. Now these kids read at home and be kind and respectful but going to school I have seen even the most religious of the muslim do the most outragous stuff. They talk about girls, secretly date, fight, swear, listen to music, make themselves look pretty, even take of there hijab. I however had a good friend who is really quite smart and I start looking into Islam more etc. But anyways back to the point, I believe that many of these are Haraam, even if they pray 5 times a day many of them have seen Naugthy videos etc. Some however are religious and put a bad picture on the normal non religious kids who now look as if they support Extreme Islam etc. I must admit now that my mother is not at the best of conditions my respect for god has gone to an All time low and I have even challenged my mum to syaing whether god exists or not. Surprisingly she was willing to listen but said that god will help her, my mum is religious etc, she looks after 5 kids and I think to myself why does she deserves this. My other point is that I also don't like many Islamic countries, although I do like Ahmadijanidine lifestyle and that's about it. Many Arab women are beautiful and if they had a right to remove there headscarves of I think they would be one of the most beautiful.

Thanks for reading if something doesnt make sense then asks me and I'll try to re-write it, I am tired so yeah.

    Football, Music!

I am quite young and might not understand but I am willing to learn~!

Hi dMLS and welcome. I wondered, what do you mean with 'Ahmadijanidine lifestyle'?

A complete inevitability that even the most religious will watch naughty videos, date, smoke, go out, whatever. It's human nature, they have access to everything, curiosity will get to them. That's why the most religious people who don't fall into temptation are grown men who've grown out of their lust for women and other sinning, because that's human nature. Teenagers will do whatever they have access to, adults won't have the bother. Since the west provides all these privileges, it's no surprise its having that impact on young Muslim's.

There are a lot of liberal muslims in the west just look at the thousands of islamic sects that have come out of the west. God theres a new sect every week! Quranists mohammadans progressive gay and lesbian masjids it's all being westernised these days. Muslims are getting dogs, hanging pictures, eating mc donalds, taking off hijab, women working, free mixing, dating and so many other things I would be here all day mentioning them. It's great to see liberal muslims with different views on islam rather than the brainwashed muslims who endure stupid fatwas everyday!

It's freedom of speach so Islam is changing for the better I guess as most muslims don't fast or pray in the west. More and more people making websites like these etc

    1. Depending on the age range you are talking about it could be typical rebellion against parents, society, religion, etc.
    2. With taboos which are openly expressed by non-believers there is an appeal to the freedom which is otherwise restricted. People will also question if the taboo is no more than an old tradition which has no place in the modern world. The tradition could be based on an outdated interpretation as well just as with the dress code. The tradition could be culture not religious as well.

    Welcome dMLS  parrot

Yes, I agree with the previous writers. In the end that are human things and every teenager wants to have a gf/bf. That's normal. Even watching porn is pretty normal.
To repress once feelings, however, is not normal and that's what's religion makes you do.

I remember feeling so conflicted about having to censor what I read, watched and even said to please Allah, even though inside I didn't want to. I wanted to express myself without having to cut out anything I was curious about, and actually struggled with this for years, especially when my own beliefs were gradually changing.

I even stopped drawing to please Allah. It was as if I cut off my own limbs, though I tried to deny it.

Religion holds you back and tries to say that wanting to explore things like art, music and so on is the work of the devil. By that token, daring to ask questions and not being satisfied with the status quo answers are also the work of the devil. I couldn't stand that way of thinking.

I also get angry when Muslims try to guess at why people leave Islam, from saying "they suffered a few bruises and rotten worms got into their hearts" to "they didn't love the faith enough". It's insulting, because not only are these false in my case, but I was someone who did love the faith enough to try and censor anything and everything I did to please Allah, and pray to him daily to the point of making my anxiety disorder even worse.

To be honest, most people I know (at least on the internet) leave Islam because of their intellect and conscience.

Don't listen to what muslims think of apostates, they would never think that there *are* valid reasons to reject Islam. I mean their whole faith revolves around superiority of believers (muslims) over nonbelievers. They will probably never think of nonbelievers as equal, much less apostates.
