I've just had a bizarre 'discussion' with a Muslim on
TheStudentRoom who apparently thinks that, deep down in the back of my mind, Islam still sends chills down my spine.
I love what s/he said about why s/he believes the Qur'an is true, though (bold). Siggable.
It is not "circular". Unlike many other religious people I truly tried to explain why the Qur'an is considered a proof in itself. I did not try to prove it. If a text is truly holy then it is proof. I am asserting this to any book. Of course you do not take the Qur'an to be holy, but if God is real and he reveals a book many will find the evidence of it's validity in the book itself. If you think this is circular, then I am not frustrated by your insults but am frustrated by your lack of intelligence.
What you said:
<< If you ask me for the "proof" that Islam is true, I shall direct you to the Qur'an. If you ask me for "proof" that the Qur'an is true, I shall direct you again to the Qur'an." >>Circular reasoning:
<<
a use of reason in which the premises depends on or is equivalent to the conclusion, a method of false logic by which "this is used to prove that, and that is used to prove this" >>
The fact that you say you were once a Muslim doesn't make me surprised. People like you are usually the most hostile, the most prone to insulting others and the most insecure. Somewhere in the back of the mind Islamic theology still influences you and scares you a little when you argue against it. I bet you wish you were like the other non-Muslims who don't face the same difficulty. I anticipate you mocking this comment, making a witty remark(etc.) You aren't fooling me.
Just like this rant of yours, full of ad hominem and preconception (prejudice), you anticipated wrong.
There are many reasons. Firstly because Baruq is not logically impossible unlike the Trinity. Secondly we cannot believe as intelligent beings in the impossible, so God would not exist in a way which is impossible to real logic (otherwise he would be telling us to believe a lie). I did not repeat any assertion, you are just too arrogant and do not care to really consider anything religious.
It's "Buraq" and what you consider illogical, millions consider perfectly sensible hence why I stressed the word 'perceived' when discussing what you think is 'logical'. What's more telling is your concern over your god telling you a lie and yet you have no evidence for the countless extraordinary claims made by your god. It's why you're forced to use circular reasoning.
It is truly you who use circular reasoning. Recycling philosophical terms such as "ad hominem" and "circular reasoning". I explained the special case of a holy text and why this does not encompass circular reasoning.
And yes I did anticipate correctly, you are inadvertently mocking me not only by using bland statements with little input of your own, you quoted me out of context into your signature. As I already said, have a nice life.
I shall no longer reply to you. This is because your replies consist of stupidity but format it as if to come across as one with reason.
Have fun feeling you have won. Have fun making fun of the fact that I said you would feel you have won. Have fun trying to come across as an intellectual and have fun with your lazy, half-intelligent rebuttals to my comments.
Have fun on the Day of Judgement (I say this to you specifically because I know that deep down it sends chills down your spine).
