am i mistaken or does the internet seem to be full of salafi muslims? all the islamic forums and videos on youtube seem to be full of salafi's with Dr zakir naik and co. where are the other's?

The most fanatical in any religion are the ones who devote the time, energy and effort to shout loudest, make videos, prosletyse, make noise. You have to have energy and turbo powered belief and arrogance to spend that time making all that noise. The noise becomes an enactment of that belief - the more noise a Salafi makes, the more he feels good and that he is doing his duty as a Muslim.

The moderates are, by their very nature, moderate, and have lives outside religion and pushing religion on the world. They live lives, they don't have the attitude or energy to push their views.

Initially I too was astounded by the sheer number of people trying to propagate their faith.But then you got to remember they are 'professionals'. What was even more flabbergasting was the fact that people who lived in those parts of the world ,where supposedly rationality and free thinking reign supreme,listening to this rubbish and wholeheartedly surrendering their autonomy to a non-existent GOD.

Not only on internet but also in public.Salafis have taken over the media and hijack the mainstream view of Islam by propagating their hateful and extreme ideology, it has become alarming that these figures like Zakir Naik,Harun Yahya,Yusuf al-qardawi and Mohd Hussein Yacoub- whom that cant even tell the distinctive difference of Ashkenazi Jews and the rest,also spreading their extreme views- are still revered by their muslim audience even if they have been debunked and ridiculed...something for the right wing to feed on and react with their own brand of their hateful ideology.

Yeah I didn't even know what Salafism was until I joined an Islamic forum.

Apparently Salafism was big back in the day in Canada. But now it's not.

Self ban for Ramadan (THAT RHYMES)

Expect me to come back a Muslim. j/k we'll see..
