Dubstep has so much bad press. I actually feel quite sad about it. But I understand the criticism, because the genre is absolutely dominated by unschooled noise that I hate too. It wasn't so long ago that dubstep was exciting and fresh, and it still is in the right circles. I remember mooching around in Bristol when the genre was making it's mark there. Tagging and bombing. Cruising the galleries, the street art, the clubs, the bars, the music shops. So many bright and creative people making such a sterile and depressing city come alive with colour and sounds. And of course, Banksy was everywhere.
Makes me want to visit Bristol
Agree with the noise vs. creativity thing. I think any worthwhile musical innovation eventually gets too commercialized once people realize it's good. But there is still a lot of great stuff to be found as you noted.
These 3 are superb. Good chilled out beats, good for a small house party, or just to sit and study by.
This is much more what I think of as "dubstep". Also fusion of non-English riffs is a win.
This one, I imagine, is goooood driving music.
Haunting.
YES! I love violin with electronica. And this has some kind of Chinese feel to it too. Awesome.
Also haunting. Good study music (yeah studying's all I can think of right now....
)
Sweet. Love the reggae riffs.
Another song that makes me get up and drive out there, at night, go somewhere where there is no light and just find a patch of starry sky.
Nice.
Love lounge.
Smooth.
