I'm sure I've mentioned it on here before, but Rain by Somerset Maugham is just wonderful - all the breadth and depth of a novel in just seventy pages.

I like Chekov, Raymond Carver, Dubliners by James Joyce, especially 'The Dead'

Nice thread, Abood! Novels take too much time, but short stories (and poem) are excellent if you don't got too much (reading) time on your hand and/or are not fan of reading gigantic novels.
