    Hey guys, Just had a talk with Arman about this he seems like an OK chap just not very well informed on the biology of human sexuality. He has agreed to me teaching him some things to inform him better. He seems genuine, don't keep piling on top of him at the moment.

    Billy not saying you are wrong but don't think the way it was handled was the best way. I will work with him to help him think through his thoughts of this in light of evidence. He isn't bad just lacking education as far as I can see.

    He didn't say gays should be stoned to death, or called any gay person on the forum any names. As retarded as he seems to be, I think what he said should be allowed as its just a different viewpoint, although extreme and one that I don't agree with at all. But I think people should be able to wear KKK hoodies too as part of freedom of speech, and in the same spirit we should allow him to express his viewpoint and debunk it rather than censor him.

    YOLO, understand that "freedom of speech" only applies to public spaces. This forum is a privately run space, and here we do not allow homophobia, sexism or racism of any kind. Everyone is welcome to ask questions if they don't know about something, or don't have experience in something. But if someone comes out and flatly states that so-and-so people are mentally deficient, then that person will be reprimanded, especially if they insist on repeating their bigoted speech even when told to take a step back and educate themselves first.

    Good for you that you were not offended. I am sure the people he repeatedly labelled "mentally ill" and compared to shit eaters and other things from his imagination, are quite offended.

    Regardless, this is not just about who is offended. This is forum policy so that LGBTQ people, many of whom are members here, do not have to put up with yet another place of bigotry when they come here for solace.

    The argument that homosexuality is an illness or unnatural are two of the cornerstones of homophobia.

    I don't care how many disclaimers people add on the end or how sweetly they sugar coat it or even if they offer it deferentially as an apology, it is still feeding the mythos and by extension feeding discrimination, injustices and abuses in the wider world. It is still shaping the narrative. I'd argue that this kind of contribution is worse because the sentiment is delivered diplomatically in the guise of a respectable thesis, rather than the foaming-at-the-mouth delivery of the more instantly obvious and avoidable bigot.
