Also, al-alethia, referring to your point about "I might learn something new in the future, and that would change me." So what? So damn what? No matter what new, impressive, "miraculous", important knowledge you obtain, would it change the fact that Allah punishes people for eternity based on finite acts? Would it change the fact that the Prophet married and had sex with a 9 year old child? Would it change the fact that apostates are to be punished by death? Would it change the fact that God purposefully decided to test us, even though most of the people in his test are predetermined to go to hell? Would it change the fact that the punishment for adultery after marriage would be stoning to death? Would it change the fact that a husband is allowed to beat his wife? Would it change the fact that a woman's testimony is consered half of what a man's is? Would it change the fact that polygamous marriages are allowed? Would it change the fact that there are passages in the Qur'aan which so easily challenge the mind through scientific contradictions (splitting of moon, splitting the sea, stars used as missiles for devils, non living objects turning into snakes, going on some imaginary pilgrimage with an imaginary horse that has a wingspan as far as you can see, sun setting it into murky water (even if it is metaphorical)? Would it change the fact that there are numerous hadith that support even more outrageous claims like the sun setting between the horns of a devil? The devil pissing in your ear? Two angels sitting on your shoulders 24/7 writing scripts for your deeds? Would it change the fact that Islam continues to be a backwards religion, empties the mind of the reasoning abilities it needs, prevents people to proceed towards its evolution, and most of all, prevents families like yours and mine to always have huge emotional disturbances? Would it?

Honestly to me Muslim, Christian, Jews are just labels. As long as you are a decent respectful human being that's what matters. HOWEVER Islam as it is today seems to be in such a mess. Imagine being Muslim and expecting to defend all the questionable things.

I didn't reveal everything, just enough to make a point Wink

Besides, the more people who do it, the more stupid Islam looks when it claims miracles.

Good to see you again old friend. Where can I buy your latest book?

Same place as the old one - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B008FWBYEQ

The latest was proceeding at a cracking pace till it got derailed by the need to install a sitting-down loo. We had a squatting one before, termite-addled at that. I'm sure the Muses will forgive me.

Good to see you again too. You had a narrow escape with Miss Zaiba.

^^ I've actually been reading up on this 19 thing today.

Because it's you that's advocating it, I'll afford it a little more respect than the other miraculous claims in this thread. But please let me know if you ever decide to put it all down to forceful, wishful thinking, or even to coincidence. I will then grudgingly have to relinquish this newfound respect I have for the crazy way in which Allah's mind oftentimes works.

Thanks dude, I'll check it out and give you my harshest criticism. Why does squatting help? Think shit, write shit, that's what I say.

My head currently hurts enough, so I'm glad I missed her.

Dear friend, I hope you don't think that I still think that Allah SWT put the code in there? Just because I believe in the code and I think that Koran-only Islam is the best Islam out there today, doesn't mean I will prostate before a sky-daddy, pointing my butt towards Mecca (the long way).

I am going to show you the mathematical miracles contained within the Twilight series by Stephany Meyers - evidence that these books were written by Allah himself.......

    You are my hero.

It's weird how you can find as many faults in Islam as you like, but the second some pseduointellectual semi-credible crap pops up, we're expected to lose our shit and reconsider everything. It should really be the other way around, we should give more weight to any mistakes/contradictions we find because Allah claims that Islam and Qur'an are the height of perfection. In theory even one inaccuracy should completely invalidate all of Islam instead we've been taught to think that one right somehow makes up for the overwhelming load of wrongs.

One thing I'll also mention is that saying that god made the Quran contain specific numbers that we find now starts to become a little more weird when you remember that the Quran has been altered.

How do we know there wasn't a different word count before hand?

Nah Seth I think ur original point was right, I find your day miracle pretty miraculous, but I don't think the authors purposefully did it. If they did, many more OBVIOUS numerical miracles would he present. Regardless, Islam is confu
sing and barbaric. And guys please Wikipedia the quraan miracle of 19 and look at the debunking in criticism of islam

Sorry for so many replies but jema is the most correct.

But jema, it is hard to always think rationally, because I mean the consequences of being wrong are an eternity of hell. If supposedly hell was real, we would have no more chances, but your point is still very true.

A theist's chance of going to "hell" is much higher than an atheist. If Islam is wrong then everyday you're a Muslim you could be angering the right god by worshipping the wrong one. At least as an atheist you could argue a case of neutrality.

The process of leaving religions for atheism has stages. Don't expect to be worried about the possibility of some religion having been sent by a god (instead of man-made as the rest of them) equally little as by Santa Claus being real right away, but it will happen.

Anubis, I think me and you both know that Islam is barbaric enough to stick with its main tenent of faith, similar to what the prophet said when he was conveying his message to other kingdoms by a letter, which in summary said "believe in one god, and accept me as the final messenger, otherwise, go to hell, literally."

Have you thought about accepting an Egyptian god as your lord and personal saviour? It's a much better deal than what allah is offering.
