    Im teaching myself. Started last year. Not all that good but I can play a few songs. I really should practice more.

    You'll develop those after around a month of practice?
    I went straight to learning the riff from Smoke on the Water without that those sort of syncing exercises and developed playing skills very slowly. Worth the wait though Smiley

    I took guitar lessons a few years ago but wasn't feeling it. Didn't like my tutor's approach. Got back into guitar 3-4 months ago and have been practicing every day since.

    My favourite scale is the Phrygian dominant, aka maqam Hijaz-Nahawand in Arabic. I like to incorporate a classical Arabic sound in my music, and that scale is just beautiful.

    Srsly though, I have a guitar that is collecting dust in my room because I never use it. I still know how to play a few songs but I've forgotten how to do anything else D:

    I have a black steel string Fender acoustic that someone gave me years ago. I can play a few tunes but nothing special. I spent ages practicing Every Breath You Take by The Police until I got it nailed. Now when I play that everyone thinks I can actually play the guitar, but I really can't play much else. It's either that, Wonderwall or Fast Car, or some random chords that sounds kinda neat to me.

    Only problem is the guitar is too big for me, plus the steel strings are really quite high off the thingy and really hurt my fingers. I have to be playing it every day for a few weeks for my fingers to harden up and get used to it. So it's not really something I can just pick up and play when I want. I suppose I could put lighter strings on it. I did that once when I was really into playing, but after playing on steel it felt like a toy guitar, so I changed back to steel. And never got around to changing them again. Plus steel sounds baddass.
    Too fucking busy, and vice versa.

    If the action (distance between the fretboard and strings) is too high, you can sand down the nut and bridge. Or give it to a luthier if you're afraid of ruining the guitar.

    My nylon-string has the worst action.

    I wish I can play any song properly besides the ones with easy rhythm and 4-5 chords. But I'm a lot more into making my own stuff and can't pay too much attention when I'm learning something new. I started learning a classical finger-picking tune and forgot about it halfway through.

    I think you have to learn a lot scales, techniques and chords to learn any other song quite easily.

    i had started noticing all the little manufacturing shortcuts in mass produced guitars, and realised that you have to spend quite a bit to get one that is put together well. So instead I thought I would do it myself.
