     OP - February 16, 2013, 09:55 PM

While I was doing some readings and watching documentary on history of sex that focuses on Ancient Civilization, I learned that the greeks and romans were open with their sexuality to the point of having a high frequency rate of divorce and lower birth rates which threathened the roman empire, as a result of that adultery and pre-marital sex was banned during Emperor Augustus reign who believes in family values,in fact after Christianity was incorporated into Roman empire, there was a claim that the church made sex a sin propagated by St. Augustine who believes that Sex should only be for procreation purposes. Also I learned that there was a claim that sexual morality of Christianity did not come from Jesus Christ but from the later christians whose interest was for political reasons.

I just have some question to ask for more clarification and to correct any misconception that I have on this

1.Is it really true that sexual morality of Christianity was never from Jesus christ?

    2. If so,was Jesus christ really open about sexuality or just indifferent?

As an ex-Christian I can tell you. Christianity today is NOTHING like what Jesus would have imagined it. Jesus never asked for divine buildings of worship made of gold. He never worshiped any idols or collected relics, and he welcomes a prostitute to join his group of apostles and travel with them. Christianity has been molded based on the cultural perspectives of the Middle Ages. So to answer your questions from my perspective

    1. I wouldn't be surprised

    2. I would argue Jesus was indifferent, it's quite interesting when you compare to Islam that has a whole long list of rules about sexual conduct, Muhammad himself engaged in sexual pleasures. Jesus was more about compassion and simple obeying God and did not engage in sex 'Or so is written and believed'. I don't recall any Stories in the New testament about Jesus commenting about sexual affairs.

Christians of the past made up all kinds of shit to fill the voids which Jesus left blank.

    ^

The character of Jesus didn't seem the the guy who would kill a man and then take his wife as a concubine.

I think that if Jesus and Mo existed at the same time they wouldn't have gotten along. Mo would probably have gotten him executed for not being violent enough.

    IMO.

In my opinion a life without curiosity is not a life worth living

Other than the ban on divorce, (which is from the Sermon on the Mount), yes its true.  Most of it is just whatever sexual morality pre-existed Jesus.

Jesus was by no means open about sexuality, nor was he indifferent.  According to Jesus, looking at a woman with desire was as sinful as adultery.  Whatever the Orthodox Jewish sexual morality was at the time was most likely Jesus' point of view.  He was like a Jewish fundie, and would  probably be horrified if he knew he'd started a new religion.
