Sure, I don't think my story is that interesting but here goes:
I'm a 16 year old somali girl living in Denmark with my mom, dad and two sisters and three brothers. My siblings are moderate/liberal muslims, while my parents are a little more religious. I was a moderate muslim until i was 15. The only time I was a bit more religious was at the time with the whole Muhammed drawing scandal, I was 10 back then and thought that all danish people were racist bigots, and thought that everything was this Islam vs World thing. Age 11 I started going to Quran school with stupid teachers, (one of them bit my cousins ear because he couldn't say a word right!) I only went there to make my mom happy. A year later I took my hijab on because everyone kept bugging me about it and said it looks prettier and all the those who show their hair are ugly, (also because I hated my 'nappy' hair) for every month that went by, I hated it more and more.
So when I was 15 I saw a video on youtube where this beardo was talking about wife beating, and strolled through the comments where someone quoted sura 4:34, I didn't believe it and though it was some anti-islamic douchebag. A couple of months later I felt like reading the Quran online in english, so I was reading all these surahs and saw that 4:34 was actually true! Then I came across a verse talking about cutting thiefs hands off.. Why are you so sadistic Allah? (I'll try to find it) Later on I started reading those hadiths and the one that really blew my mind... Muhammed married a six year old and had sex with her at 9. And here I was defending it and said she was 19! Like that's any better! And he's the ideal muslim.... Shit. That's why I left islam, can't really say I officially left because sadly I still wear hijab and want to scream at 8 year olds wearing it.
-I also would like to say I changed my views on certain things ever since I left islam. Like being less bias on the whole Palestine/Israel conflict, and stop thinking that everything is a Islam vs World problem. Good for me
