Interesting that the counter-terrorism police are investigating. There has been what seems a concerted campaign to encourage this sort of attack by certain far-right groups.

We're lucky nobody has been killed in this. Its worrying to think that someone may be killed in this kind of action.

^ Disgusting.  The main problem I have with EDL and related hate groups is that a lot of them do tend to be racist and will not distinguish between Muslims and ex-Muslims.  You're basically fucked either way if you're Asian.  The whole Nazi saluting thing is both ironic and fucking ridiculous as well.  Those cunts infuriate me.

This is terrible. The current atmosphere (post Woolwich) for everyday muslims in general going about their daily business is not a good one. I feel for them & I hope this climate of hatred, suspicion & even retribution diminishes.

Islamist extremists cause fear. The EDL causes fear. Trust is corroded. The politics of hate, the politics of 'identity'. This is where it leads to.

All the more reason for secular, liberal, genuinely pluralist values to be fought for.

Bigotry begets bigotry. In this case an act of brutality has been answered by an act of bigotry, which will lead to more acts of bigotry and brutality turning into a viscious cycle. I blame the left leaning foolish apologists of Islam ignoring Muslim hatemongers in the name of tolerance. They are guilty of double standard, condemning critics of Islam and so called moderate Muslims who rationalize bigotry but jusifying hatred spewed by some Muslims.

The polticians and pseudo-intellectuals of UK must learn to treat everyone equally in law. EDL is a child of apologists of Islam.

That is like saying you blame XY or Z for terrorism & not the terrorists and their ideology for their violence.

the blame lies solely on the perpetrators and the hateful bigotry that enabled their crime.

Most British people are full of contempt for Islamism. But they don't carry out acts like this. With violent bigotry, the question of Islamism becomes an excuse for them to hang their generalised hate and desire to carry out violent action against minorities. Its a pre-existent strain of bigotry that seeks to exploit tensions to do this. And the perpetrators will be granted their agency and not denied it. Just as we insist that terrorist jihadis accept their responsibility and their ideological impulse.

Its alright, we've got a liberal secular democracy, state agencies, police, intelligence, and judiciary to deal with it. We don't need shithouses acting out collective guilt idiocies. Those people are part of the problem.

No it isn't.  When I saw EDL members giving Nazi salutes at the Cenotaph any suspicion that they were a child of anything to do with Islam dissipated.  They are the child of an entirely different, and very European, tradition.

EDL and all the defence leagues aren't just anti-islam, there is a great number of skinheads and fascists hiding amongst them.  They have elements of ultra-nationalists in their ranks. In a programme Tommy Robinson admitted that he was against polish immigration f.ex.  I think these ultra-nationalists see in EDL a form of clean and white-washed bigotry that gives space to their mindset without publically being silenced/neglected. Since Islam is a religion, hatred of muslim and islam, who're usually majority non-european, is easily white-washed. It can be filed under any number of white-washed categories. I don't think these guys are allies  to ex-muslims. Even if the entire islamic community in britain, turned into atheists or anglican christians, they'd still have a gripe with them.

Either way, you don't fight wahabi extremists by having a reverse stance with the exact same behavior. These guys will make it even harder for muslims to accept western values.

    Fire at Islamic boarding school

Darul Uloom School fire: Pupils and staff evacuated

A fire overnight at an Islamic boarding school in south east London is being treated as suspicious by police.

More than 120 pupils and staff were evacuated from Darul Uloom School, in Foxbury Avenue, Chislehurst, on Saturday.

Firefighters were called to the scene at 23:50 BST. Two men were treated for the effects of breathing in smoke.

London Fire Brigade said there was minor damage to the building and 21 firefighters tackled the blaze.

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: "The fire affected a small part of a school building and there was heavy smoke throughout."

According to its website Darul Uloom London was established in 1988.

The premises comprise of "130 boarding rooms in addition to classrooms, dining hall, assembly hall, prayer hall, gym, playing fields... Each room is shared by two boys."

There is no proof yet that these fires were not accidental and news papers are acting irresponsibly by making suggestions that they were deliberate, no sense in jumping the gun before there is proof it was arson.

The police have already said that the fire at the Islamic centre was arson, have they not?  They other one is still only being described as "suspicious" so we'll have to wait and see there.

Muslim hate monitor to lose backing  Says UK Govt minister  and that is from telegraph.co.uk

    Fiyaz Mughal of Tell Mama.
    Quote
A controversial project claiming to measure anti-Muslim attacks will not have its government grant renewed after police and civil servants raised concerns about its methods.

The project, called Tell Mama, claimed that there had been a “sustained wave of attacks and intimidation” against British Muslims after the killing of Drummer Lee Rigby, with 193 “Islamophobic incidents” reported to it, rising to 212 by last weekend.

The group’s founder, Fiyaz Mughal, said he saw “no end to this cycle of violence”, describing it as “unprecedented”. The claims were unquestioningly repeated in the media.

Tell Mama and Mr Mughal did not mention, however, that 57 per cent of the 212 reports referred to activity that took place only online, mainly offensive postings on Twitter and Facebook, or that a further 16 per cent of the 212 reports had not been verified. Not all the online abuse even originated in Britain.

Contrary to the group’s claim of a “cycle of violence” and a “sustained wave of attacks”, only 17 of the 212 incidents, 8 per cent, involved the physical targeting of people and there were no attacks on anyone serious enough to require medical treatment.  here have been a further 12 attacks on Islamic buildings, three of them serious, including a probable arson attack on a Muslim community centre in north London, which burned it to the ground.

Tell Mama supporters launched a furious campaign of protest against The Sunday Telegraph after it disclosed the breakdown last week, with round-robin emails to the newspaper accusing it of behaviour “better suited to the days of 1930s Germany”.

However, The Sunday Telegraph has now learned that even before Woolwich, the communities minister, the Liberal Democrat MP Don Foster, called Mr Mughal to a meeting and said that Tell Mama’s grant would not be renewed. The organisation has received a total of £375,000 from the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) since last year.

“Mr Mughal was giving data on attacks to DCLG which wasn’t stacking up when it was cross-referenced with other reports by Acpo [the Association of Chief Police Officers],” said one source closely involved in counter-extremism.

“He was questioned by DCLG civil servants and lost his temper. He was subsequently called in by Don Foster and told that he would receive no more money.” ...

Yes we can, in the very beginning we approached Mariam Namazie and tried to talk about joint demonstrations and were turned away, abusively, I might add.

Hassan says some one might be killed, well some one has, Lee Rigby, slaughtered in broad day light on an English street.
Did you not think that there would be a reaction, there was bound to be to such a horrific event.
Most of the reaction has been hot air on twitter and the internet and so far not a single muslim has been harmed.

Don't blame EDL, we have killed no one, we have told our supporters to keep calm and not over react. 99% of EDL have done as we asked.

Arthur, I've thus far refrained from commenting but since you keep coming back for more. Here are some random comments about EDL from a Welsh board (the members almost exclusively white, many differing political opinions).

    "Bunch of racist cunts."
"Gang of football hooligans from Luton originally. Now members all over the country.
Says something about them that the guys in Wednesday night had matching EDL branded balaclavas."
"...the EDL doesn't have that many members. It's definitely a lunatic fringe full of thugs who can't do joined-up thinking."
    "Swivel-eyed loons."
"What makes them worrying is that they seem to have a wide pool of very very thick people, who are seeming keen to be led. Twats planning to burn down Brighton palace because its a fucking big mosque as an example"
"Do you have to be a bald freak to be a member ?"  "No, but it helps"
"I've been following them quite closely via HopeNotHate and 'Stand Against The EDL in England' on Facebook for the last couple of years. (The 'English Language Defence League' group is an amusing diversion too - it's a motley collection of their most idiotic utterances. Their average IQ is pretty low, all told...)"
"A motley group of clueless white trash in the main. Football casuals. Travel to places, get pissed, have a ruck with the polis, get outnumbered by local anti-fash, go home with their tails between their legs. That's the usual MO."

You're flogging a dead horse mate. No-one is going to take you seriously. Try another way.
