    Good evening ladies and gentlemen,

Many of you will have heard of the passing of Irtaza here (user mchawking) last week:

    http://www.councilofexmuslims.com/index.php?topic=24879.0

Irtaza was well known in the London community and we have all been in a state of mourning. Some of you may be aware I was at his funeral with a few of the other London Ex-Muslims only 2 days ago.

We are currently arranging a humanist wake for our friend.
It will be held in London on Saturday 21st at 5pm. Venue is to be confirmed.

We will be asking a voluntary donation of at least £5 to cover the costs of the day.

Please note that the family wishes to attend. In the same way that they opened up their ceremony for us to attend, we will be doing the same for them. It seems only right.

If you would like to come and pay your respects, please post here. It is important we have precise numbers so if you wish to come, please be sure you can make it.

Time is of the utmost importance, so please confirm asap.

     See you on the day.

    Hello all
Just to inform you that we will also be having a brief remembrance of our dear friend Irtaza at the CEMB's 19 September evening drinks with Arif Ahmed: http://ex-muslim.org.uk/2013/08/evening-drinks-with-ahmed-arif/ if anyone is able to come.

Want to thank Dr_Zhivago for his generous donation to Irtaza's humanist ceremony Smiley

If anybody else would like to donate, please PM me.

Donations are not being handled by me. They are being handled by a dear friend of mine.  Like me, she was actually one of the people who tried to find Irtaza that day :(

Please donate generously via PayPal. Please get in touch with me for details.

In the event of there being excess donations, remaining money will go to Mind, a UK mental health charity. If we cannot cover our costs with the donations, the organisers (literally about 4 of us) will have to spend our own money to make the shortfall.

     Thank you very much.

    Guys!
    This event is tomorrow.
If you want to attend, please post in this thread.  I will (check your credentials and) send you a PM.  There will be many ex-Muslims and we will go to the pub afterwards.

     Dude!

Thanks for YOUR generous donation man.

     It is most appreciated Smiley

I didn't even know if you were coming or not but I'll be looking forward to seeing you man.

     Thanks a bunch.

This stretched the abilities of London's three finest Ex-Moose  event organisers  combined. Cannot tell you how much planning has gone into this Smiley

Last chance to pay your respects folks. Last chance to say goodbye to Irtaza :(

Will appreciate any money you could donate to the ceremony fund.

     Thank you.

Thanks a million to you and your buddies who gave so much of your time to organise this important wake. It was indeed a good send off for Irtaza.  Humanism rocks!!  Such good people saying such kind words.

Also, I got to meet another stackload of ex-Muslims for the first time.
